Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems, devices and methods for eyeglasses frames and eyeglasses frames assemblies for wearable electronic devices, and particularly relates to systems, devices, and methods that employ an antenna in eyeglasses frames and eyeglasses frames assemblies for wearable heads-up displays. In an embodiment, a pair of eyeglasses includes a first arm housing a radio and an antenna passing internally from the radio to at least a portion of a front eyeglass frame, which includes a first and second rim securely physically coupled by a bridge. A power source is coupled to the first arm or a second arm and electrically coupled to the radio via an electrically conductive path.

Abstract: Systems and devices for controlling camera privacy in wearable devices are described. A camera cover can be provided that is movable between a closed position and an open position. In the closed position, the camera cover can occlude a field of view of a camera, such that the camera cannot capture meaningful data. In the open position, the camera cover can be at least partially out of the field of view of the camera, such that the camera can capture meaningful data. The camera cover can be positioned within a housing of the wearable device, and an actuator can be positioned external to the housing of the wearable device. A user can move the camera cover by moving the actuator.

Abstract: A method for making smart glasses includes obtaining a temple pre-form made as a one-piece seamless shell structure with shell walls enclosing a hollow compartment. An opening at one end of the one-piece seamless shell structure provides physical access to insides of the hollow compartment. The method further includes disposing one or more smart glasses components in the hollow compartment through the opening in the shell structure, and attaching the temple pre-form with the one or more smart glasses components disposed in the hollow compartment to a frame of the smart glasses.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for electrical connection between components of wearable heads-up displays are described. A wearable heads-up display can include a first arm and a second arm, bridged by a front frame. The first arm can carry electrical components, the second arm can carry a power source, and the front frame can carry a set of electrically conductive current paths which provide electrical coupling between the power source and the electrical components. The first arm and the second arm can each rotate about a respective hinge relative to the front frame. A flexible, dynamic set of electrically conductive current paths can couple the electrical components in the first arm to the set of electrically conductive current paths in the front frame, and another flexible, dynamic set of electrically conductive current paths can couple the power source in the second arm to the connector in the front frame.

Abstract: There is provided an optical system comprising a light conduit. The light conduit comprises a first light pipe, a second light pipe, and a first bridge to mechanically couple the first light pipe to the second light pipe. The first light pipe has a first inlet to receive a first input light signal and a first outlet to emit at least a portion of the first input light signal to form a first output light signal. Moreover, the second light pipe has a second inlet to receive a second input light signal and a second outlet to emit at least a portion of the second input light signal to form a second output light signal. Furthermore, the first bridge has a first end mechanically coupled to the first light pipe and a second end mechanically coupled to the second light pipe.

Abstract: Systems and methods for thermal management in wearable computing devices are provided. Thermal management strategies included in the wearable computing device provide for dissipation of heat generated by electronic components installed within enclosures, or housings, of the wearable computing devices to maintain operability of the electronic components, maintain functionality and/or operability of the wearable computing device, and maintain user comfort while the wearable computing device is worn. The enclosure includes a multilayered stack of materials including a thermal layer embedded within insulating layers. The thermal layer may be shaped so as to direct the spreading of heat in a desired direction, to maintain surface touch temperatures within allowable ranges, and maintain internal enclosure temperatures within operating ranges of the electronic components.

Abstract: There is provided a glasses frame comprising a front frame having a first end piece to connect to a first temple arm. The glasses frame also comprises a first electrical contact physically coupled to the front frame at the first end piece. In addition, the glasses frame comprises the first temple arm, which has a first end connector to connect to the first end piece. Moreover, the first end connector is slideably mateable with the first end piece along a first slide path. The first end connector has a second electrical contact disposed along at least a portion of a first connection surface of the first end connector. Furthermore, the second electrical contact is to electrically connect with the first electrical contact when the first end connector is slideably mated with the first end piece.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for detecting ambient light with wearable heads-up displays are described. An ambient light sensor can be positioned close to a user's eye area on a user-side of a wearable heads-up display. By positioning the ambient light sensor on a user-side of the wearable heads up display, the ambient light sensor can be in a position and/or orientation which receives ambient light in a similar manner a user's eye, and thus ambient light detection can be more accurate. Brightness of display light output by the wearable heads-up display can be adjusted in response to the detected brightness of ambient light.
