    摘要: In the production of a gypsum-based porous body of high strength by foaming a gypsum-water mixture, the improvement which comprises including in said mixture about 0.1 to 1 part of a water-soluble aluminum compound per 100 parts by weight of gypsum, calcium oxide or calcium hydroxide in such a quantity that the final mixture has a pH-value in the range of about 10 to 13, a decomposition catalyst, and about 0.5 to 5 parts of hydrogen peroxide, expressed as a 35% solution, per 100 parts by weight of mixture, the ratio of solids to liquid being about 1 : 0.4 - 1.The preferred aluminum compound is aluminum nitrate. The preferred decomposition catalysts are manganese compounds such as manganates or permanganates, e.g. potassium permanganate.

    摘要: The instant invention is directed to a process for the production of moldings based on polyurethanes comprising reacting organic polyhydroxyl compounds with organic polyisocyanates in quantitative ratios corresponding to an NCO/OH equivalent ratio of from 0.8:1 to 1.2:1, wherein said polyhydroxyl compounds are selected from the group consisting of:(a) alkoxylation products of ammonia containing 3 hydroxyl groups and having a molecular weight of at least 149 and a hydroxyl group content of at least 12% by weight,(b) alkoxylation products of aromatic polyamines containing at least 4 hydroxyl groups and having a molecular weight of at least 284 and a hydroxyl group content of at least 12% by weight,(c) phenol/formaldehyde condensates containing at least 3 phenolic hydroxyl groups and having a phenolic hydroxyl group content of at least 12% by weight,(d) mixtures of (a), (b), and (c), and(e) mixtures containing at least 25% by weight of at least one of the polyhydroxyl compounds mentioned in (a), (b), and (c) with other polyhydroxyl compounds optionally containing ether or ester groups and having a molecular weight in the range of from 62 to 3000, said mixture having a mean OH functionality of at least 2.7 and a hydroxyl group content of at least 12% by weight, wherein said reaction is conducted at a temperature from 0.degree. to 100.degree. C. to form a solid, powderable and fusible reaction product which contains free isocyanate and hydroxyl groups, but which will not react further in said temperature range.

    摘要: A process for the production of low sulphur chromium(III) oxide comprising annealing at a calcining temperature from about 800.degree. C. to 1100.degree. C. a mixture of alkali metal chromate and about 0.7 to 0.96 times its molar amount of ammonium sulfate, and separating the chromium(III) oxide formed from the alkali metal salt. Advantageously the ammonium sulfate in the form of a concentrated solution is mixed with solid alkali metal dichromate and the mixture thereafter is adjusted prior to calcination to a water concentration of less than about 15% by weight of water.

C. and subsequently grinding. The products are suitable for pigmenting lacquers, plastics and dispersion dyes.

    摘要: A sheet feeding assembly for a printing press including a feed table having a set of front stops and which is inclined downwardly so that a sheet travels toward the front edge of the table where it is temporarily retained in registered position. A port connected to a source of compressed air extends through the table at a position spaced from the front edge of the table. A rear feed plate is seated on the table upstream of the port and a front feed plate is seated on the table downstream of the port, the plates being substantially coplanar with their respective front and rear edges in proximity and uniformly spaced with respect to one another. The front edge portion of the rear feed plate is undercut to form an overhang which defines a transversely extending air conducting cavity which overlaps the port so that an air blast is directed at an angle upwardly and forwardly of the table to lubricate the passing sheet and to urge the sheet in the direction of the front stop. The rear plate is adjustably shiftable to vary the spacing between the plates thereby to vary the rate of discharge of the air. A manually adjustable cam elevates the front edge of the rear plate to a variably upraised position thereby to vary the angle of discharge of the air against the sheet.

    摘要: A pigment of a magnetic metal or alloy thereof carrying, in about 0.2 to 30% of the weight of the metal or alloy, a coating of at least one member selected from the group consisting of an ortho-silicic acid ester, a hydrolyzate thereof and a condensation product thereof. Optionally it also carries a corrosion inhibitor. The coated pigment is produced by suspension of the untreated pigment in a liquid medium containing the ortho-silicic acid ester or derivative thereof, and optionally the corrosion inhibitor, followed by separation and drying at 50.degree. to 250.degree. C. The resulting pigment is non-pyrophoric and of high performance properties suitable for use in magnetic recording media.
