摘要: Compositions comprising (1) manganese compound and (2) one kind or not less than two kinds out of alkali metal and/or alkaline earth metal compounds being supported on activated carbon. Contacting an ozone-containing gas with the said compositions results in highly effective decomposition and removal of ozone contained in the gas. The capability for removing ozone of the compositions is lasting over a long period of time.

摘要: Nitrogen oxides contained in waste gases can be effectively removed from waste gases by a novel process which comprises contacting the waste gases with activated carbon in the presence of gaseous ammonia at a temperature between about 110.degree. C. and about 350.degree. C. to convert the nitrogen oxides to nitrogen. When waste gases containing sulfur oxides together with nitrogen oxides are subjected to this process, both the nitrogen oxides and the sulfur oxides can be simultaneously removed from the waste gases with a high efficiency. The effects of this process can be enhanced by employing a specific element-supporting activated carbon or an oxidized activated carbon.

摘要: A multilayer glass structure constructed by joining the edge portions of a plurality of glass sheets by a sealant through spacers having an adsorbent filled therein. According to this invention, the adsorbent comprises a combination of a granular zeolite composed of a core of a synthetic zeolite/clay binder mixture containing the synthetic zeolite in an amount larger than its average content in the granular zeolite and a shell of a synthetic zeolite/clay binder mixture containing the clay in an amount larger than its average content in the granular zeolite, with granular activated carbon having on its surface 1 to 20% by weight, based on the activated carbon, of a coating of a synthetic resin latex. The adsorbent can effectively adsorb water vapor and the vapor of an organic solvent evaporated from the sealant, and prevent dew deposition on the glass surface. Moreover, it does not yield dust even when the glass structure is handled under severe conditions.

摘要: A process for producing activated fibrous carbon comprises carbonizing and activating vegetable fibers in the presence of at least a member selected from the group consisting of ammonium salts of inorganic acids, nitric acid and boric acid and zinc chloride of about 5 to 80 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the vegetable fibers. The process increases remarkably a yield of activated fibrous carbon and therefore permits the supply of activated fibrous carbon at by far reduced costs as compared with the conventional process, and the resulting activated carbon shows superior adsorption capability and flexibility.
