摘要: A system and method are used for transporting a plurality of tower sections of a wind turbine on beds of transport devices, such as flat railcars. Supports affix at support locations on beds to accommodate at least one of the tower sections on each of the transport devices. The supports can include bed supports, such as tabs, extending from the beds, and can include cradle supports with slots that engage on the tabs. A circumferential dimension of a cradle is adjusted on each of the supports against which the tower section rests. Each of the tower sections is then supported with at least two of the supports by loading the tower sections on the transport devices. An end of each of the tower sections is then affixed to a flange on at least one of the supports on each of the transport devices.

The attachment part (77, 77′) comprises a flexible housing (80, 80′, 680, 780) that forms a cavity (81, 81′, 681, 781) between at least the housing (80, 80′, 680, 780) and the surface of the wind turbine blade (10, 610). The cavity (80, 80′, 680, 780) is filled with an adhesive that provides an adhesive bonding to the surface of the wind turbine blade (10, 610).

摘要: A high efficiency vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) comprising two counter-rotating rotors, each comprising a plurality of straight rotor blades. One rotor is placed on a first vertical axis and another rotor is placed on a second vertical axis. The first vertical axis and the second vertical axis are positioned on a support structure extending there between. The support structure, and the first vertical axis of rotation and second vertical axis of rotation, can rotate about an intermediate axis of rotation, which is placed at a midpoint between the first vertical axis of rotation and second vertical axis of rotation. An angled deflector is mounted to the frame at or about the intermediate axis of rotation. During operation, the vertex of the deflector is positioned toward oncoming wind. The deflector comprises two symmetrical deflecting surfaces that extend from the vertex to the rotors. One or more vortex generators are positioned on each deflecting surface.

摘要: A rotor blade for a wind turbine is provided, wherein the rotor blade includes serrations along at least a portion of the trailing edge section of the rotor blade. The serrations include a first tooth and at least a second tooth, and the first tooth is spaced apart from the second tooth. The area between the first tooth and the second tooth is at least partially filled with porous material such that generation of noise in the trailing edge section of the rotor blade is reduced. Furthermore, the embodiments relate to a wind turbine including at least one such a rotor blade.

A swirl device with two concentric flow passages upstream of the compressor directs intake air flow to the compressor through two different flow paths, depending on air flow rates. Angled swirl vanes at an outlet of the swirl device pre-whirl the air flowing to the compressor to reduce noise generation at low air flow rates.

摘要: A system for locating airflow modifiers for installation on wind turbine rotor blades may generally include a plurality of airflow modifiers, with each airflow modifier including a base defining an outer profile that differs from the outer profiles of the remainder of the airflow modifiers. The system may also include a blade shell defining an exterior surface. The base of each airflow modifier may be configured to be coupled to the exterior surface of the blade shell. In addition, the system may include an installation template provided on the exterior surface of the blade shell. The installation template may define a different installation location for each of the airflow modifiers. Moreover, the installation template may include a geometric feature at each installation location that at least partially matches the outer profile of the airflow modifier configured to be installed at such installation location.

摘要: A method for installing an add-on component to a surface of a wind turbine blade includes attaching an adhesive side of strips of a double-sided adhesive tape onto either the surface of the wind turbine blade or a surface of the add-on component, the tape strips having a release liner on an opposite exposed side thereof. The tape strips having an extension tail of the release liner that extends beyond an edge of the add-on component when the add-on component is placed and held at a desired position against the surface of the wind turbine blade. With the add-on component held at the desired position, the extension tail is pulled away at an angle such that that release liner is removed along the length of the tape strip while maintaining the add-on component against the blade surface to attach the exposed adhesive under the release liner to either the surface of the wind turbine blade or the surface of the add-on component.
