摘要: The present invention provides methods for rapidly identifying and distinguishing between different DNA sequences utilizing short tandem repeat (STR) analysis and DNA microarrays. Specifically, these methods facilitate the deduction of a target molecule's identity, length, and number of STRs. In an embodiment, a labeled STR target sequence is hybridized to a DNA microarray carrying complementary probes. These probes vary in length to cover the range of possible STRs. The labeled single-stranded regions of the DNA hybrids are selectively removed from the microarray surface utilizing a post-hybridization enzymatic digestion. The number of repeats in the unknown target is deduced based on the pattern of target DNA that remains hybridized to the microarray. The DNA profiling techniques described herein are useful for performing forensic analysis to uniquely identify individual humans or other species.

摘要: A tray having three dimensionally adjustable sized pockets for holding a plurality of electronic components. A rectangular tray base has a cavity with a flat bottom, and four sides configured with wall notches for receiving and captivating ends of elongated transverse and longitudinal dividers. Each divider has a plurality of notches spaced along a length. The notches are configured to allow each transverse divider to interlock with a plurality of longitudinal dividers to form a rectangular array. The array is positioned in the tray base cavity, forming a plurality of rectangular pockets. The lengths and widths of the pockets are adjustable by selecting a particular divider notch for intersection of each longitudinal and lateral divider. A rectangular top frame of selected thickness is positioned over the wall notches to retain the dividers, and to define a height of each pocket upon placing a lid over the tray.

摘要: In one embodiment of the present invention, an end cap is provided in the form of a box with an open top, having a substantially rectangular base and four substantially rectangular sides, each attached to one of four corresponding edges of the base. The end cap open top has interior length and width dimensions providing clearance for a corresponding width and height respectively of a stack of trays. A depth of the inside of the end cap allows insertion of an end portion of the stack of trays. The end cap is constructed from a shock, absorbent material of thickness and material properties designed to absorb shock for the purpose of protecting the trays and components in the trays. Shock absorbing end caps are placed over both ends of a stack of trays, and the assembly is placed in a dry-pack bag and sealed, and then placed in a cardboard box for transportation.

摘要: A release bracket for an inline releasable plug and socket type connection comprises a collar having a forward end, a rear end and defining an opening having an axis. An inline plug or socket component is slidably accommodated in the opening of the collar, the plug or socket component having a forward end and a rear end. A handle having a first end is pivotally connected to the collar for rotation about the pivotal connection, and a bracket is pivotally connected at one of its ends to the plug or socket component and pivotally connected at an opposing end thereof to the handle. When the handle is rotated about its pivotal connection to the collar, the collar and the plug or socket component move relative to each other between a first position where the forward end of the plug or socket component is a distance from the forward end of the collar and a second position where the plug or socket component is a greater distance from the forward end of the collar.

摘要: An electrode feedthrough assembly for a ceramic arc tube of the type used in high pressure sodium arc lamps. The electrode feedthrough assembly is particularly useful in an external reservoir arc tube wherein an interior region of a feedthrough tube is utilized as a reservoir for the lamp fill material. The electrode feedthrough assembly includes a feedthrough tube, an electrode assembly attached to the feedthrough tube and a connection wire. The feedthrough tube has a closed end external to the arc tube. The feedthrough tube and the closed end thereof are formed in a single process, preferably by deep drawing, without welding, crimping or fusing. Passages to the interior of the feedthrough tube are provided by crimping the electrode support rod to the feedthrough tube with a six jaw crimping arrangement wherein two of the crimping jaws are shorter than the other four. The connection wire is attached to the feedthrough tube and includes a portion on the axis of the tube. The connection wire assists in retaining the electrode feedthrough assembly in the arc tube during sealing.

摘要: A self-powered back-up alarm for mounting to the wheel hub of a heavy truck or like vehicle. The alarm includes a housing adapted to be mounted to a vehicle wheel hub. Inside the housing is a magnetized stator that is held stable by a counterweight mounted for free rotation to a spindle in the housing. Also mounted in the housing is a power supply including a coil positioned adjacent the stator in the housing and attached thereto so that it rotates about the stator when the wheel hub turns. A battery stores the energy developed across the coil when the wheel hub rotates. Also mounted inside the housing are sensors located adjacent the stator that similarly rotate with the wheel hub. The sensors, in combination with an associated detect circuit, produce a reverse motion signal whenever the vehicle backs up. An audio alarm, located in the housing, is actuated by the reverse motion signal and emits an audible warning whenever the vehicle backs up.

摘要: An analog-to-digital converter is used in conjunction with a digital to analog converter and a comparison network to provide a group of digital signals that, when applied to a digital-to-analog converter, produce an output signal approximating an applied input signal. The analog-to-digital converter includes a clock circuit, a series of bistable multivibrator circuits, a master latch circuit, a plurality of slave latch circuits, and associated logic circuits. The bistable multivibrators are arranged to produce a sequence of activation signals in response to operation of the clock circuit. The activation signals serve to place slave latches circuits sequentially in a positive logic status temporarily, each slave latch output terminal being associated with a binary signal of decreasing significance in approximating the applied input signal. The output signal of the digital-to-analog converter is compared with the applied input signal. A signal resulting from the comparison of these signals is applied through the master latch circuit to the activated slave latch circuit and this comparison signal determines whether a positive or negative logic signal is latched at the output terminal of the slave latch circuit. The multivibrator circuits then activate the next slave latch circuit in sequence until the last slave latch circuit is activated. The analog-to-digital converter is implemented in current mode (steering mode) logic and compatible components to permit the circuit to be fabricated on a single chip.
