    Abstract: An electrode arrangement for a discharge lamp is provided, including an electrode unit including an electrode and an electrode plate, and a conductive connection unit for coupling to an energy source. The connection unit includes a connection unit plate. The arrangement includes a cylinder composed of a nonconductive material, said cylinder arranged between the electrode plate and the connection unit plate, and at least one conduction film which is arranged on an outer side of the cylinder and extends from the connection unit plate as far as the electrode plate and connects the connection unit plate and the electrode plate to one another. The arrangement includes a cap-shaped and integrally embodied protective film arranged on the electrode plate or connection unit plate, such that the film covers a plate side facing away from the cylinder and an outer lateral surface of the electrode plate or of the connection unit plate.

    Abstract: An electrode arrangement for a discharge lamp is provided, including an electrode unit including an electrode and an electrode plate, and a conductive connection unit for coupling to an energy source. The connection unit includes a connection unit plate. The arrangement includes a cylinder composed of a nonconductive material, said cylinder arranged between the electrode plate and the connection unit plate, and at least one conduction film which is arranged on an outer side of the cylinder and extends from the connection unit plate as far as the electrode plate and connects the connection unit plate and the electrode plate to one another. The arrangement includes a cap-shaped and integrally embodied protective film arranged on the electrode plate or connection unit plate, such that the film covers a plate side facing away from the cylinder and an outer lateral surface of the electrode plate or of the connection unit plate.

    Abstract: A fluorescent lamp is manufactured according to the processes including: arranging a pair of lead wires between a holding block provided with two lead-wire grooves for grasping the pair of lead wires and an auxiliary holding block provided with grooves corresponding to the two-lead wire grooves in such a manner that both end portions of each of the pair of lead wires protrude out of the lead-wire grooves, whereby the pair of lead wires is supported to be sandwiched and to be fixed therebetween; attaching an electrode to tip ends of the protruding lead wires; inserting the lead wires that hold the electrode by grasping the same and protrude out of the holding block into an end portion of a glass tube; applying heat in the vicinity of the end portion of the glass tube so as to pinch-seal the lead wires; and detaching the holding block and the auxiliary holding block. Only the electrode is present between the lead wires, and therefore a simple, reliable and stable method for manufacturing a fluorescent lamp can be provided.

    Abstract: In order to ensure hermeticity of a hermetic container and to suppress occurrence of electrical leakage, a display device is provided with a faceplate including an anode to be supplied with an externally-supplied electric potential, a rear plate arranged facing the faceplate at a predetermined spacing therefrom, a metal pin for supplying the electric potential to the anode from outside of the rear plate through a penetration hole in the rear plate, wherein the penetration hole includes the metal pin by insertion. The metal pin includes an axis portion disposed in the penetration hole and a flange portion which is integral with this axis portion and which is located adjacent an opening end of the penetration hole. The flange portion is joined to the rear plate for hermetically sealing the penetration hole.

An aperture portion is formed in a manner that a thread-like member is inserted into a glass tube having an ultraviolet ray reflection layer and a phosphor layer formed on its inner surface, the glass tube is bent in a predetermined shape by using a bending jig, the thread-like member is pressed to the phosphor layer formed in a predetermined region in the bending member side of the glass tube while both ends thereof are pulled tight, the thread-like member is reciprocated, and phosphor of the phosphor layer in this region is exfoliated.
