    Abstract: Systems and methods to facilitate sleep are described. In on example, a cognitive alarm clock system for children learns sleep patterns and activities towards recommending sleep schedules and teaching independence. The system may detect the cognitive state of a child based on voice or cry pattern recognition, a time of day or night, scheduled activities, and social context, among other factors. The system may initiate actions to facilitate sleep in response to the cognitive factors. For example, the system may adjust lighting or push back a wakeup time. In another example, the system may use the cognitive analysis to teach children good sleeping habits by making recommendations to facilitate a good night's rest and encourage independence.

    Abstract: In an electrical power outlet device, a processor and a memory are configured to execute an application within the outlet device, which computes a pattern of usage of the outlet device. A set of sensors in the outlet device includes a first sensor that is usable to detect an event in an environment in which the outlet device is supplying power. The environment includes elements that are not participating in an electrical circuit that receives power from the outlet device and the event is usable by the application to alter the pattern of usage. An autonomous modification of an operation of the outlet device is performed in response to the pattern of usage, the event, or both. The operation changes a power supplying state of the outlet device without using an external switching apparatus or an external logic implemented outside the outlet device.

    Abstract: A method and a structure for a low temperature thermometer is provided. The present invention may include a method of determining an ambient temperature is below a transition temperature, the method including measuring a magnetic field of a magnetic field source, where a superconducting film is positioned between a magnetic field sensor and the magnetic field source, where the superconducting film has the transition temperature, Tc, based on determining the measured magnetic field approximately equals an expected magnetic field of the magnetic field source, outputting a first state of a switch, wherein the first state of the switch indicates the ambient temperature is above the Tc, based on determining the measured magnetic field is less than the expected magnetic field, outputting a second state of the switch, where the second state of the switch indicates the ambient temperature is below the Tc.
