The invention relates to the three-dimensional structure of a crystal of an EphB4 receptor complexed with a ligand. The three-dimensional structure of a Receptor-Ligand Complex is disclosed. The receptor-ligand crystal structure, wherein the ligand is an inhibitor molecule, is useful for providing structural information that may be integrated into drug screening and drug design processes. Thus, the invention also relates to methods for utilizing the crystal structure of the Receptor-Ligand Complex for identifying, designing, selecting, or testing inhibitors of the EphB4 receptor protein, such inhibitors being useful as therapeutics for the treatment or modulation of i) diseases; ii) disease symptoms; or iii) the effect of other physiological events mediated by the receptor.

The invention relates to a device for the variable actuation of gas exchange valves for internal combustion engines, wherein at least one cam (2) pertaining to a camshaft (1) mounted in a housing rotates according to the engine speed. The cam (2) first drives an intermediate member (4) which performs a clear oscillating, rotary movement and has a rotational axis (7) that can be displaced in the housing parallel to itself along a curve of displacement (8), said intermediate member comprising a control cam (5) having a lifting region (5b) and actuating an output member (11) that, in turn, actuates at least one valve (13). The aim of the invention is to enable one such device to be reliably controlled. To this end, the control cam (5) has a catch region (5a), and the intermediate member (4) is mounted on a bearing having an axis which corresponds to the rotational axis (7), said bearing being arranged in such a way that it is guided in a forced manner and can be displaced parallel to the curve of displacement (8, 28, 35), by means of an articulation (16, 24, 26) connected to the cylinder head or the housing or by a slide (34) that is guided in the housing in a positively locking manner. The invention also relates to a method for operating an internal combustion engine comprising a plurality of cylinders using at least one of the inventive devices.

For modifying the wobble plate inclination as a result of a regulated pressure in the compressor casing it is swivellably held by two articulated brackets (23, 24) on a recess (29) of the drive shaft (4). Together with the recess (29) and the spacing between the bilateral connection points to the wobble plate (11), said articulated brackets (23, 24) form a four-bar linkage, whose geometry ensures a functionally correct swivelling movement. The four joints (25 to 28) of the four-bar linkage are formed by uniaxial swivel joints, whose low frictional resistance leads to an improved control behaviour on controlling the delivery rate of the compressor.

A clamp contact device for providing mechanical and electrical attachment for cables, wires, and electrical conductors. A single device can provide simultaneous dual attachment modes for cables, wires, and plugs. One end of the device contains two holes on separate spring legs. The spring legs can be pressed towards each other until the holes are in alignment. By inserting the cable through the aligned holes and releasing the legs, spring tension in the legs tries to force the holes apart, clamping the cable in place. The other end of the device has an opening for insertion of an pin, plug, or similar element. A fork spring that partially extends into the interior of the device provides spring-loaded extensions that contact an inserted plug and hold it in place, without the need to initially press on any part of the device. The device can be manufactured from a single piece of sheet metal. Another embodiment includes a separate spring within the interior of the device, which provides spring tension for the legs, allowing the legs to be made of materials that have good electrical conductivity rather than good spring qualities. This second spring can also serve as a stop to prevent inserted wires from protruding beyond a certain point. This assures that a wire inserted from one end will not interfere with a plug inserted from the other end.
