Abstract: An EL display apparatus according to the present invention includes an EL device adapted to emit light at a luminance corresponding to a current fed thereto. A source driver outputs a current higher than a current corresponding to an analog video signal to the EL device through a source signal line. This operation charges/discharges a parasitic capacitance present in the source signal line. A second gate driver circuit controls a transistor formed between the EL device and the source driver to operate so that the EL device is fed with the current for only a part of a one-frame period. As a result, the El device emits light for only the part of the period.

Abstract: An electroluminescent (EL) display apparatus and corresponding method of control are provided. A display screen includes gate signal lines which are arranged to intersect source signal lines. A pixel provided with an EL device corresponds to each intersection of the gate signal lines and the source signal lines. A driving transistor is provided for each pixel to supply a current to the EL device. A first switch transistor is provided for each pixel on a current path through which the current is supplied to the EL device. A gate driver circuit is connected to the gate signal lines. The gate driver circuit is configured to turn the first switch transistor on and off to simultaneously generate band-shaped non-display regions and band-shaped display regions on the display screen and to move the non-display regions and the display regions relative to the display screen.

Abstract: An EL display apparatus is provided. A display screen includes pixels arranged in a matrix, with each pixel including an EL device and a pixel circuit. A source driver circuit is configured to output an analog video signal to each pixel. A gate driver circuit is on at least one side of the display screen, with the gate driver circuit including first and second gate driver circuits. Each pixel includes a driving transistor, a first switch transistor, and a second switch transistor. Abstract: A display device includes a display panel and a control circuit which controls the display panel. The display panel includes pixel circuits and one or more dummy pixel circuits. Each pixel circuit includes an organic EL element having a first electrode and a second electrode, and a drive transistor. Abstract: An electroluminescent (EL) display apparatus and method of control are provided. A display screen includes gate signal lines which intersect source signal lines. A pixel provided with an EL device corresponds to each intersection of the gate and source signal lines. A driving transistor is provided for each pixel to supply a current to the EL device. A first switch transistor is provided on a current path through which the current is supplied to the EL device. A gate driver circuit is connected to the gate signal lines. The gate driver circuit includes a shift register circuit, and outputs a select or non-select signal for the gate signal lines. The gate driver circuit turns the first switch transistor on and off to control a duty ratio of the display screen. The duty ratio is controlled by a start pulse fed to the shift register circuit.
