摘要: A system, method and computer program product for virtual communities that enables the establishment of rules created by members of the society in accordance with the existing rule creation restrictions and, that provides a mechanism for validating and accepting of the rules established inside the society. The system, method and computer program product further provides a mechanism that enables the establishment of rules created by members of the virtual society themselves, that allows for the self-evolution of the virtual societies.

摘要: A system and method for automatic ways of prioritizing the presentation of windows on a graphical user interface (GUI) and for prioritizing and accessing information stored in cache that is used by a web browser. The viewing (tiling) priority of windows, the size of windows, and the position of windows on a GUI are automatically determined from the following criteria: the time the window was first opened, the time the window was last opened, the length of time the window was visible on the screen, the percentage visibility of the window, the amount of scrolling the window has undergone, the content of the window, the time of day, the number of window accesses, and/or some mathematical function of these criteria. Additionally, these same criteria are applied to cached information associated with web pages so that more “relevant” cached web pages are automatically stored in cache for longer periods of time before being discarded in a finite sized cache. The cached information is more quickly accessible by hitting a “back-like” button that shows more relevant (i.e. higher priority) information before less relevant information.

摘要: A method and system that permits the purchase of a license to make a limited number of copies of a book. At the time of purchase, the purchaser or user is given a key that contains the ability to obtain the limited number of copies on demand. The key contains a web address that can be used to obtain the authorized copies. In some embodiments, the key is a label in a machine readable form that is readable by a label reader, such as a bar code reader or a magnetic reader. In other embodiments, the key is merely a web address that the user may contact. At the point of sale, the key or record is formed, affixed to the book and also sent to copy tracker. The copy tracker then keeps track of the copies as made and processes each request to make a copy. If permitted, a database is enabled to send an electronic image of the requested copy to the user.

摘要: A method and system for forming a virtual network. The method comprises the steps of providing each of a plurality of mobile objects with a transceiver, and transmitting a cellular/radio signals from a source. At least a first of the mobile objects is located in an area where the transceiver of the first mobile object does not receive the signal directly from the source, while a second of the mobile objects is in a position where the transceiver of the second mobile object receives the signal directly from the source. The transceiver of the second mobile object is used to receive the signal directly from the source and to transmit the signal to the transceiver of the first mobile object.

摘要: A system for controlling access to electronic information packages including e-mail messages communicated from a sending device to a receiving device at one or more destination locations. The system and method includes determining fulfillment of one or more certain conditions at the destination location; and, implementing control in response to detection of a fulfilled one or more certain conditions to enable access to content provided in a communicated package. The access includes enabling a user to perform certain operations on the package content at the destination location, or, preventing certain operations from being performed. A mechanism is included for enabling automatic destruction of the e-mail messages immediately after being read by an authorized recipient, or, after a predetermined time interval from receipt of the message. A verification system is employed enabling a sender to verify users attempting to access the e-mail.

摘要: This invention involves tracking and backing all the information that a user generates on its computer devices (including embedded devices) in real time. The local user server records all user actions and gestures (via various means that include TV cameras). All of this information (user actions and saved files in a computer) is then sent to a remote server via the Internet. This remote server has a virtual map of all the embedded devices on a computer that the person uses. The remote server immediately starts to interpret the user's actions (including user gestures). In one implementation, the invention stores user actions that are related to data generation (e.g. actions that called some links where data is stored, or executed some programs that generated data). In another variant the remote server generates and downloads the same files that are downloaded on the local user computer devices. For example, if a person begins to download a program, the server may also download the same program on a remote backup server. This way, if the user loses this program, it can be retrieved automatically through a provided server on the Internet. If user's files are backed up by regular backup periodically, relevant data that were stored by real time backup servers can be eliminated.
