    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a secondary battery including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, an insulating layer, and a nonaqueous electrolyte is provided. The positive electrode includes a positive electrode active material-containing layer containing a lithium nickel cobalt manganese composite oxide. The negative electrode includes a negative electrode active material-containing layer having a first surface. The insulating layer includes a solid electrolyte layer having a second surface that is at least partly opposed to or partly in contact with the first surface and containing a Li ion conductive oxide. At least part of the second surface or the first and second surfaces includes a Mn-containing substance. An abundance ratio of Mn on the second surface is higher than that on the first surface.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a secondary battery is provided. The secondary battery includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an aqueous electrolyte containing alkali metal ions. The aqueous electrolyte contains an organic compound containing a carboxyl group or carboxylate group and a hydroxyl group. The pH of the aqueous electrolyte is 0 or less. The ratio of the weight of the organic compound to the weight of the aqueous electrolyte is within a range of 0.01% by weight to 6.5% by weight. The number of carbon atoms in the organic compound is 5 or more.

    Abstract: According to an embodiment, a charging condition control apparatus includes a measurement unit, an estimation unit, a calculation unit and a control unit. The measurement unit measures a present battery capacity of a secondary battery. The estimation unit estimates a present end-of-charge potential of an anode of the secondary battery based on the present battery capacity and an open circuit potential curve of the anode. The calculation unit calculates a differential potential between the present end-of-charge potential and an initial end-of-charge potential of the anode. The control unit controls a charging condition of the secondary battery according to the differential potential.
