    摘要: There is provided a liquid crystal display device which can easily be made thin and which is capable of high-quality displaying, as well as a mobile electronic device having the same. A liquid crystal display device according to the present invention includes: a first substrate; a second substrate disposed so as to be closer to a viewer than the first substrate is; a liquid crystal layer provided therebetween; and a linear light source provided by a side of the first substrate, the linear light source emitting light toward a side face of the first substrate. The first substrate includes a selective reflection layer for selectively reflecting light of a specific polarization state, and the linear light source includes a point light source and a linear light guiding member for guiding light emitted from the point light source to the side face of the first substrate. The linear light guiding member includes: a selective-reflection portion for selectively reflecting light of a first polarization state out of light which enters into the linear light guiding member from the point light source; and a polarization conversion portion for, out of the light which enters into the linear light guiding member from the point light source, converting light of a second polarization state into light of the first polarization state, the second polarization state being different from the first polarization state.

    摘要: In a starter for starting an on-vehicle engine, a solenoid is provided to push a pinion gear. The solenoid has an electromagnetic coil composed of a single coil and electrically separated from a motor circuit, a fixed core, and a plunger. Supply of excitation current to the electromagnetic coil allows the fixed core to be magnetized to attract the plunger. Hence, a movement of the plunger results in a push of the movable member toward the ring gear. A switch is provided in the circuit and has a contact, a movable core, and a switch coil functioning as an electromagnet attracting the movable core in response to supply of current to the switch coil. A movement of the movable core results in on/off switching operations of the switch. The switch is allowed to operate independently of the solenoid when both the switch and solenoid are controlled.

    摘要: A starter includes a motor, an output shaft, a pinion gear, a lever, a lever actuator, a supporting frame, and a fulcrum supporter. The motor includes a rotation shaft to which the output shaft is linked. The pinion gear is provided on the output shaft and configured to mesh with a ring gear of an engine to start the engine. The lever has a first end, a second end that is linked the pinion gear, and a fulcrum portion. The lever actuator works to move the first end of the lever to pivot the second end on the fulcrum portion. The supporting frame rotatably supports the output shaft. The fulcrum supporter, which is integrally formed with the supporting frame, works to support the fulcrum portion of the lever to achieve pivotal movement of the second end to bring the pinion gear into mesh with the ring gear of the engine.

    摘要: In a system for cranking a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine, a starter is provided with a motor working to, when energized, rotatably drive an output shaft with a pinion and an actuator working to, when energized, shift the pinion toward the ring gear to be engaged with the ring gear. A power supply is electrically connected to the motor and operative to output electrical power. A first mechanical relay is electrically connected between the power supply and the motor, and works to turn on and off a supply of a current based on the electrical power to the motor for rotating the pinion. A switching element is electrically connected across the first mechanical relay, and works to turn on and off the supply of the current to the motor for rotating the pinion.

    摘要: An engine start system which may be employed in automotive idle stop systems. The engine start system includes a pinion gear to be pushed to a ring gear coupled to an engine for achieving meshing engagement with the ring gear. After the pinion gear engages the ring gear, the engine start system starts to rotate the pinion gear using a starter motor to crank the engine. Specifically, when an engine restart request is made following an engine stop request, the engine start system waits until after the speed of the engine drops below a preselected gear engageble speed and then moves the pinion gear toward the ring gear without rotating the pinion gear. This minimizes the consumption of fuel in the vehicle in supplying electric power to the starter motor and a maximum level of mechanical noise arising from the engagement of the pinion gear with the ring gear.

    摘要: The toner transport device of the present invention includes a toner transport pipe, internally having a toner transport path for allowing toner to pass therethrough, which is disposed so that the toner transport path extends in an up-and-down direction and which vibrates in upward and downward directions. Further, on an upper joint section and a lower joint section of the toner transport pipe are provided an upper foamed elastic member and a lower foamed elastic member which internally has a toner passage for allowing the toner transported to/from the toner transport path to pass therethrough, wherein a wall surface of the toner passage is coated with a resin layer which does not allow the toner to pass therethrough. As a result, it is possible to properly prevent retention and solidification of toner in the toner transport path by the upward-and-downward vibration of the toner transport member and it is possible to properly prevent toner from leaking from the toner transport device.
