Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods include a stop/start module in operative communication with an engine. The stop/start module is configured to determine a target start/stop ratio for an engine based on an operating parameter, determine an actual start/stop ratio for the engine based on a determined number of times that the engine is turned off in response to a determined number of stopping events, activate an inhibiting condition in response to the actual stop ratio being greater than the target stop ratio at a beginning of a driving event, and prevent the engine from turning off during a stop event in response to determining that the inhibiting condition is active and that a stopping event has occurred.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling automatic start/stop operations for an engine. While the engine is shutdown, operation of the engine may be automatically started upon expiration of a threshold time limit or in response to one or more adverse or deteriorated conditions of a power storage device, such as, for example, a state of health, state of function, or state of charge of the power storage device. After the engine has been automatically started, the ability of the controller to subsequently automatically stop the operation of the engine may be disabled until at least one secondary condition is satisfied. Upon satisfaction of the at least one secondary condition, the controller may again be enabled to at least automatically stop the operation of the engine.

Abstract: There is provided a vehicle-mounted control device that, when a restart request is generated during a time interval between the fulfillment of an engine automatic stop condition and complete stop, decreases a charging efficiency of an engine by means of at least one of a throttle valve and an intake valve to prevent an increase in the reverse rotational frequency of the engine, thereby ensuring the durability of the starting device of the engine, and preventing an accelerator response from deteriorating when a restart request based on the accelerator operation is generated. In the vehicle-mounted control device that controls a charging efficiency of the engine on the basis of the requested engine output amount, the engine is automatically stopped when a predetermined automatic stop condition is fulfilled, and a charging efficiency at the time when a restart condition of the engine has been fulfilled on the basis of an engine output request generated during a time interval between the fulfillment of the automatic stop condition and complete stop of the engine is made lower than a charging efficiency for the requested engine output amount.

The control unit is designed such that, below a pre-defined vehicle speed threshold and/or in the event of recognition of an urban area, while in a purely electric driving mode, it only engages the internal combustion engine when the current desired driving performance exceeds a pre-defined upper threshold, preferably once the maximum tractive force at the wheel for purely electric driving is at least reached.

The method further includes detecting an engine stop inhibit, and recording, in a memory, data corresponding to a first missed engine stop wherein the first missed engine stop indicates detection of the engine stop opportunity without an engine stop in response to the detection of the engine stop opportunity.

Abstract: A vehicle traveling control method includes detecting a remaining fuel amount in a fuel tank including a fuel chamber in which a suction port of a fuel pump is disposed for sucking fuel to be supplied to an engine, the fuel tank being configured to generate negative pressure for sucking fuel to the fuel chamber by ejecting a part of fuel sucked by the fuel pump into the fuel chamber via a fuel line, permitting, when a predetermined condition is satisfied, inertial traveling during which a vehicle travels, with the engine kept stopped, operating, when the detected remaining fuel amount is less than a first threshold, the fuel pump despite the engine stopped owing to the inertial traveling, and prohibiting stop of the engine when the detected remaining fuel amount is less than a second threshold smaller than the first threshold.

Abstract: A method is provided for the anticipatory starting of a heat engine in a hybrid power train that includes at least a heat engine, a traction electric machine and an automatic transmission transmitting the drive power to the wheels of the vehicle in at least one initial state of the drive train of same in which the traction machine alone provides the traction of the vehicle and the heat engine is switched off, and at least one other target state in which the heat engine provides tractive power. The method involves sending, to the heat engine, an anticipatory starting request depending on the longitudinal acceleration of the vehicle and the starting time of same, before each change of state of the drive train between an initial state not requiring a started heat engine, and a target state requiring same to be started.
