摘要: A locking device for protecting the contents of a container from theft includes an extension member having an adjustable length and a lock for inhibiting adjustment of the extension member's length when the lock is engaged. To secure the contents of a container from theft, the locking device is installed between two opposing surfaces, such as between two vertical wall surfaces, with the extension member extending across the container door with the door in its closed position. The locking device is installed by simply inserting each end of the extension member into suitable cavities formed in the opposing surfaces, or in brackets attached to the opposing surfaces, adjusting the length of the extension member as necessary. Thereafter, the lock can be engaged to prevent adjustment of the extension member's length, and thereby prevent removal of the ends of the extension member from the surface openings. With the locking device so installed, and the extension member extending across and perhaps contacting a portion of the container door, the container door cannot be opened by prying or otherwise without first removing the locking device. Because the locking device cannot be removed without adjusting the length of the extension member, which in turn requires possession of the correct key or combination to disengage the lock, unauthorized access to the container contents is prevented.

摘要: A van wall brace for reinforcing a truncated pillar of a van wall which has been cut in order to accommodate a retrofitted window. The van wall brace connects to the severed end of truncated pillar and is tied into adjacent intact pillars so as to lend structural integrity to the truncated pillar, thereby restoring strength to the van wall. The van wall brace is preferred to be formed of a single piece of heavy gauge sheet metal stock of elongate shape. Each end of the sheet metal stock is stamped with a predetermined reciprocal pillar contour or contours for engaging the intact pillars located on either side of the truncated pillar or pillars. The sheet steel stock is further stamped between the ends thereof so as to provide another predetermined reciprocal pillar contour or contours for engaging each truncated pillar or pillars. The stamping location of each reciprocal pillar contour is predetermined so that the completed van wall brace will engage each of the aforesaid pillars of the particular van that has been modified. Between each of the aforesaid reciprocal pillar contours the sheet metal stock is preferred to be stamped to include edge flanges, thereby providing high strength against bending. The van wall brace is secured to the aforesaid pillars either by a standard fastener or by welding.

摘要: An apparatus for passive extension and flexion of at least one finger of a patient with an upper arm unit, a lower arm unit, and at least one connective line. The apparatus is configured such that elbow extension of the patient promotes finger flexion. This is accomplished by taking advantage of the geometry of the arm, where the distance from a point on the patient's humeral area to the patient's fingers is greater when the patient's arm is in extension than when it is in flexion. In one aspect, the upper arm unit is configured to connect to a portion of the patient's arm between the patient's elbow and shoulder and the lower arm unit is configured to connect to a portion of the patient's arm intermediate the patient's hand and elbow.
