    摘要: A secondary air intake system for adding air to the intake of an internal combustion engine includes an air control valve for changing the open area of a secondary air intake passage. The air control valve is opened and closed from a first and second pressure supply means. A first pressure supply means gradually supplies the first and second control pressure to operate the air control valve and open and close the secondary air intake passage in response to an air-fuel ratio signal. The first pressure supply means also supplies the second control pressure independent of the air-fuel ratio signal during a predetermined engine operating state. A second pressure supply means supplies the second control pressure separately of the first pressure supply means during a predetermined engine operating state.

    摘要: An air-fuel ratio feedback control method for an internal combustion engine having an exhaust gas ingredient concentration sensor arranged in the exhaust passage and having output characteristics in approximate proportion to the concentration of an ingredient in exhaust gases from the engine, wherein when the engine is in a predetermined operating condition, the air-fuel ratio of an air-fuel mixture supplied to the engine is feedback-controlled to a desired air-fuel ratio dependent on the predetermined operating condition of the engine, and when the engine is in a predetermined deceleration condition, the fuel supply to the engine is cut off. When the engine has shifted from an operating condition other than the predetermined deceleration condition to the predetermined deceleration condition, the desired air-fuel ratio is held at a value assumed immediately before the engine shifts from the operating condition other than the predetermined deceleration condition to the predetermined deceleration condition, for a predetermined time period after the shifting. The feedback control of the air-fuel ratio is started with the held value as an initial value of the desired air-fuel ratio when the engine has shifted to the predetermined operating condition. Preferably, the desired air-fuel ratio is held at a value substantially corresponding to a central value of air-fuel ratio after the predetermined time period has elapsed.

    摘要: A method of detecting deterioration of an exhaust gas ingredient concentration sensor for use in controlling an air-fuel ratio of a mixture supplied to an internal combustion engine having an exhaust system in which the sensor is arranged. The sensor has an output characteristic approximately proportional to concentration of a specific ingredient in exhaust gases emitted from the engine. The air-fuel ratio is feedback-controlled to a desired air-fuel ratio by calculating an amount of fuel supplied to the engine by the use of a desired air-fuel ratio coefficient indicative of the desired air-fuel ratio and set in dependence on operating conditions of the engine, and an air-fuel ratio correction coefficient set in dependence on a value of an output from the sensor and the desired air-fuel ratio coefficient. A plurality of average values of the air-fuel ratio correction coefficient are calculated, respectively, when the desired air-fuel ratio falls within a plurality of predetermined ranges. The average values thus calculated are compared with each other. A degree of deterioration of the sensor is determined from results of the comparison. Further, a method of feedback-controlling the air-fuel ratio in the above-mentioned manner, in which the value of the output from the sensor is corrected in response to the degree of deterioration thus determined.

    摘要: A method of controlling in a feedback manner the air-fuel ratio of an air-fuel mixture supplied to an internal combustion engine having a first fuel injection valve and a second fuel injection valve each operating in a different operating region, during operation of the engine in an air-fuel ratio feedback control region, by the use of a coefficient which varies with the output of an exhaust gas ingredient concentration sensor. In a first and a second operating regions within the air-fuel ratio feedback control region in which the first and second fuel injection valves operate, respectively, a first average value and a second average value of values of said coefficient obtained in the respective regions are calculated, and stored, respectively. When the engine has shifted to the first or and second operating regions, a value based on the corresponding first or second average value is used as an initial value of the coefficient to therely start the feedback control. Preferably, in a third operating region defined as a predetermined period of time which elapses after the engine has shifted from the second operating region to the first operating region, a third average value of values of the coefficient obtained in the third operating region is calculated and stored, and when the engine shifted to the third operating region, the third average value is used as an initial value of the coefficient to thereby start the feedback control.

    摘要: A method of controlling the air-fuel ratio of a mixture of fuel supplied to an internal combustion engine. Feedback control is effected to response to an output from an exhaust-gas concentration sensor to bring the air-fuel ratio to a predetermined value when the engine is in a predetermined medium-load operating region. It is determined whether or not the engine is in a predetermined high-load operating region in which the feedback control is interrupted for bringing the air-fuel ratio to a value smaller than the predetermined value, and whether or not the engine is in a predetermined low-load operating region in which the feedback control is interrupted for bringing the air-fuel ratio to a value larger than the predetermined value. The feedback control is effected even when the engine is in the predetermined low-load operating region, if the engine continually stayed over a first predetermined time period in the predetermined high-load operating region, and has shifted to the low-load operating region within a second predetermined time period after leaving the predetermined high-load operating region.
