An aerosol system or method for mixing first and second materials. The system comprises first and second container assemblies and a coupler. The first container assembly contains the second material and a propellant material that pressurizes the second material. The second container assembly contains the second material. The coupler is arranged to couple the first and second container assemblies, thereby forcing the second material into the second container assembly such that the first and second materials mix. The resulting mixture may then be dispensed from the second container assembly using an actuator member. In one case, the first container assembly comprises a male-type valve assembly and the second container assembly comprises a female type valve assembly. In another case, the first material is a catalyst and the second material is a pigmented liquid, which, when mixed, are suitable for repairing a damaged surface.

A dispenser for an aerosol system for dispensing liquid material includes an outlet member, a collar member, an actuator member, and a selector member. The outlet member defines an outlet opening. The actuator member supports the collar member and the outlet member such that movement of the collar member relative to the actuator member causes the collar member to deform the outlet member. Movement of the selector member relative to the collar member causes movement of the collar member relative to the actuator member. Deformation of the outlet member alters a cross-sectional area of the outlet opening.

A method of applying texture material to a destination surface defining a pre-textured portion formed by a spray system and an untextured portion, comprising the following steps. A flexible container, texture, material, a sponge base, a resilient sponge are provided. The resilient sponge is adhered to the sponge base to form a sponge assembly. The texture material is arranged within the container chamber, and the sponge member is fixed relative to the container. Texture material is forced out of the container member and onto an applicator surface. At least a portion of the texture material on the applicator surface is transferred to the untextured portion of the destination surface by displacing the container member along the dispensing axis towards the destination surface with the applicator surface substantially parallel to the destination surface. The container member is then displaced away from the destination surface along the dispensing axis with the applicator surface substantially parallel to the destination surface such that an exposed portion of the particulate material on the untextured portion of the destination surface stands out from the destination surface and is visually perceptible.

An aerosol texturing system for applying a layer of texture material on an uncoated portion of a substrate substantially to match a coated portion of the substrate, comprises an aerosol assembly, texture material, and propellant material. The aerosol assembly defines a product chamber and is selectively operable in a first mode in which the product chamber is sealed and in a second mode in which fluid is allowed to flow out of the product chamber along a dispensing passageway. The texture material and propellant material are disposed within the product chamber. The texture material has a base portion and a particulate portion containing at least one particulate material. When the aerosol assembly is in the second mode, the propellant material is adapted to force the texture material out of the aerosol assembly along the dispensing passageway and onto the uncoated portion of the substrate.

A dispensing system for patching an untextured portion of a destination surface to substantially match an existing structure of an existing sprayed on texture pattern on the destination surface surrounding the untextured portion. The dispensing system comprises a container, a sponge member, and a scraper member. Texture material is arranged within the container. The sponge member defines an applicator surface and a sponge opening. The sponge member is secured to the container such that the container opening and sponge opening are substantially aligned. The scraper member is detachably attached to the container.

A clip apparatus or method for sheet materials comprising a clip member and a collar member. The clip member is resilient and defines a hinge portion, first and second finger portions extending from the hinge portion, and a ratchet portion formed on at least one of the first and second finger portions. The collar member is resilient and defines a latch portion, a lever portion, a latch opening, and a housing interior. The collar member acts on the clip member to place the clip member in the closed configuration. The latch portion engages the ratchet portion through the latch opening to inhibit movement of the collar member. When the collar member is in a disengaged configuration, the collar member may move relative to the clip member.

An airless sprayer adapted to spray both paint and texture material. The sprayer uses a reciprocating piston that mechanically forces the material to be dispensed out of a charging chamber. The piston is driven by a motor mounted within a motor chamber. A working surface of the piston has a surface area adapted to dispense texture material. The sprayer is gravity fed with an overhead hopper. The sprayer is provided with a detachable overflow member that defines an overflow chamber for capturing texture material that leaks around the piston. This overflow chamber is configured relative to the motor chamber such that material leakage is contained within the overflow chamber and does not reach the motor chamber.

A texturing system for applying a desired texture pattern on a patched portion of a surface. The texturing system comprises texture material, a dispensing system for dispensing the texture material, and a selecting system. The texture material comprises a carrier, a binder, a filler, and a change material. The texture material changes from a wet form to a solidified form when exposed to air. The change material changes appearance when the texture material changes from the wet form to the solidified form. The selecting system is supported by the dispensing system such that texture material dispensed from the dispensing system is dispensed through an outlet opening in the desired texture pattern. The dispensing system is used to deposit the texture material onto the patched portion of the surface in the desired texture pattern.

A composition for forming a textured coating on drywall material, where the textured coating substantially matches a pre-existing acoustic texture material on the drywall material, comprises acoustic texture material and propellant material. The acoustic texture material comprises a base portion the base portion is capable of existing in a flowable state and a hardened state, and a particulate portion the particulate portion comprises discrete, visible particles of solidified urethane foam having irregular shapes. The propellant material comprises a hydrocarbon propellant. The particles of urethane foam are distributed throughout the acoustic texture material when the base portion is in the flowable state. The irregular shapes of the particulate portion are substantially the same when the base portion is in the flowable state and in the hardened state. The base portion is capable of securing the discrete, visible, particles of solidified urethane foam to the drywall material when the base portion is in the hardened state.

A method of patching a destination surface to substantially match a structure of an existing sprayed on visible texture pattern. A sponge member is displaced in a dabbing direction towards and away from the destination surface to transfer texture material to the destination surface. Individual particles of the texture material are supported by binder on the applicator surface such that at least a portion of the structure at least some of the individual particles supported on the applicator surface visibly extend from the destination surface. The portion of the structure of the individual particles supported by the binder that extends outwardly from the binder on the destination surface forms a visible structure on the destination surface. The visible structure substantially matches the structure of the existing sprayed on visible texture pattern.
