Abstract:
A mixing container includes a first container that stores two or more reagents and a second container for mixing two or more reagents. The first container includes reagent storage chambers that are respectively provided for the two or more reagents and have openings formed at portions thereof, and a sealing member that seals the respective openings of the reagent storage chambers. The second container includes an opening portion formed such that the first container can be connected thereto, and protruding portions disposed so as to pierce the sealing member when the first container is connected to the opening portion.
Abstract:
An assembly for preparing and dispensing a paste, preferably bone cement, includes a cylinder containing a powder and a receptacle containing a liquid. A piercing device is configured to open the receptacle to allow liquid to flow into the cylinder to be mixed with the powder. The receptacle is collapsed by a differential pressure between the cylinder and the receptacle.
Abstract:
A device and method for improving hydration of a biomaterial includes a syringe having a cavity therein and a distal opening, an end cap, and a wall operatively coupled to the end cap. The end cap has a distal plate with an inlet and is removably attached to the syringe to cover the distal opening. The wall is positioned proximate to the inlet and at least partially defines a volume in fluid communication with the inlet. An orifice extends through the wall and fluidly connects the volume to the cavity. A flow of a liquid component of biomaterial diffuses through the orifice and is introduced into a particulate component of biomaterial. As such, the liquid component of biomaterial hydrates the particulate component of biomaterial.

Abstract:
An interfacing cap for a reagent storage vessel is provided. The interfacing cap comprises a partitioning element having a structure corresponding to an opening of the reagent storage vessel, a projection fitting disposed on the partitioning element, a holder element, and a puncturing element coupled to the projection fitting.
Abstract:
Provided are methods and devices for dissolving solid protein compositions, such as solid compositions comprising fibrinogen, in an aqueous solvent. The methods comprise use of a closed container containing a volume of solid fibrinogen composition and a head space wherein the pressure within the headspace is sub-atmospheric. Aqueous solvent is introduced into the container while maintain the sub-atmospheric pressure, and subsequent to addition of the solvent, the size of the headspace is decreased to bring the pressure to atmospheric pressure. The devices are suitable for use in the disclosed method.
Abstract:
Methods for producing a coloring agent for keratin fibers from a first composition A, a second composition B and a third composition C, in which the first composition A is directed from a container A, by means of a filling device, via an inlet, to a second container B containing the second composition B and/or, to a third container C containing the third composition C, wherein composition A is introduced into container B and/or into container C, and container B and/or container C, through the introduction of composition A and/or the influence of the filling device, forms at least one outlet, from which a mixture of compositions A and B and/or a mixture of compositions A and C emerges, are suitable for producing homogeneous coloring agents for keratin fibers with a viscosity that is suitable for the treatment of hair.
Abstract:
A syringe-to-syringe mixing apparatus comprises first and second syringes adapted to be coupled at their respective outlets to fluidly connect the syringes. The first syringe includes a plunger having a hollow plunger barrel and a distal end defining a lumen therethrough. The lumen is initially closed by a septum, which in one embodiment is an elastomeric stopper mounted over the end of the plunger. The mixing apparatus further includes a third syringe slidably disposed within the plunger barrel. The third syringe includes a hollow needle adapted to pierce the septum to allow fluid from the third syringe to be injected into fluid within the coupled first and second syringes.
Abstract:
A mixing assembly comprises a coupler with a temporary seal that is connected to a first container containing mix ingredients. An internally and externally threaded insert is threadedly mated with the internally threaded coupler in an initial position short of breaching the temporary seal. A second container is screwed into the internally threaded insert. Sealing relationships are formed between the coupler and the insert, and between the insert and the received second container. Once the second container is secured to the insert, the coupler is screwed downwardly toward the insert to cause the insert to threadedly advance toward and eventually breach the temporary seal to enable contents of the first container to mix with that of the second container.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for mixing and dispensing components. The methods and apparatus of the invention are particularly advantageous to mix the components of radiopaque bone cement and inject the resulting radiopaque bone cement into skeletal structures. The apparatus of the invention comprises: (1) a sealed mixing chamber for mixing components; (2) a dispensing chamber isolated from the sealed mixing chamber; (3) a controllable portal to open a flow path between the sealed mixing chamber and the dispensing chamber so that the dispensing chamber can receive the mixed components after they are mixed; and (4) a drive mechanism associated with the dispensing chamber to force the mixed contents from the dispensing chamber.
