Abstract: A vision system for a vehicle includes a rear backup camera that is operable to capture image data. The rear backup camera is configured to be disposed at the vehicle so as to have a rearward field of view. The rear backup camera has an imager and a wide angle lens, which is disposed at the imager with its center axis offset from a center region of the imager so as to be disposed at and to image at an upper region of the imager. A distant central horizon region is imaged at the upper region of the imager and a closer region is imaged at the center region and the lower region of the imager. Video images derived from image data captured by the rear backup camera are displayed on a video display for viewing by a driver of the vehicle during the reversing maneuver of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular control system includes a forward-viewing camera, a forward-sensing sensor and a cabin-sensing imaging sensor. With the system controlling driving of the vehicle, the system determines a triggering event that triggers handing over driving of the vehicle to a driver of the vehicle before the vehicle encounters an event point associated with the triggering event. The vehicular control system (i) determines a total action time available before the vehicle encounters the event point, (ii) estimates a driver takeover time for the driver to take over control of the vehicle and (iii) estimates a handling time for the driver to control the vehicle to avoid encountering the event point. The vehicular control system estimates the driver takeover time based at least in part on processing by the vehicular control system of the in-cabin image data captured by the cabin-sensing imaging sensor.

Abstract: A vehicular control system includes at least one processor that processes image data captured by a forward viewing camera and radar data captured by a forward sensing radar sensor. With the system controlling driving of the vehicle, the system determines a triggering event that requires driving of the vehicle to be handed over to a driver of the vehicle before the vehicle encounters an event point, and the system (i) determines a total action time until the vehicle encounters the event, (ii) estimates a driver take over time for the driver to take over control and (iii) estimates a handling time for the driver to control the vehicle to avoid encountering the event point. Based on the determined and estimated times, the system (i) requests the driver take over control of the vehicle or (ii) controls the vehicle to slow down and stop the vehicle before the event point.

Abstract: A vehicular automated parking system includes a plurality of cameras viewing exterior of the vehicle. While the vehicle is traveling along the road, the vehicular automated parking system operates in a parking space locating mode to determine available parking spaces at least in part via processing, at an electronic control unit having an image processor, of image data captured by at least one camera of the plurality of cameras. The vehicular automated parking system fuses the determined available parking spaces with map data to generate an annotated map for display at the video display screen for viewing by the driver of the vehicle to assist the driver in selecting a parking space from the determined available parking spaces. After selection of the parking space, the vehicular automated parking system parks the equipped vehicle in the selected parking space.

Abstract: A method for displaying video images via a vehicular vision system includes providing a rear backup camera having an imager and a wide angle lens disposed at the imager with its center axis vertically offset from a center region of an imaging array sensor of the imager. A distant central horizon region is imaged at the upper region of the imaging array sensor via light that has passed through a center region of the wide angle lens, and a closer region is imaged at the center region and the lower region of the imaging array sensor via light that has passed through a lower peripheral region of the wide angle lens. Video images derived from image data captured by the rear backup camera are displayed on a video display for viewing by a driver of the vehicle during a reversing maneuver of the vehicle.

Abstract: A control system that is operable to control a vehicle in an autonomous or semi-autonomous mode includes a processor that processes data captured by a plurality of exterior sensing sensors. When the control system is operating in the autonomous or semi-autonomous mode and responsive to a determination of an upcoming event that requires the system to hand over control of the vehicle to a driver before the vehicle encounters the event, the control determines (i) a total action time until the vehicle encounters the event, (ii) an estimated time for the driver to take over control and (iii) an estimated handling time for the vehicle to be controlled before the vehicle encounters the event.
