Abstract: Various solutions for wake-up signal and preamble design for mobile communications are described. An apparatus, while in a first mode of operation, receives a wake-up signal (WUS) from a network. In response to receiving the WUS, the apparatus switches to a second mode of operation from the first mode of operation. The apparatus then detects a preamble in downlink (DL) transmissions from the network. In response to detecting the preamble, the apparatus monitors a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) to check for an uplink (UL) transmission grant for the apparatus from the network.

Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may be a UE. The UE receives, through a non-physical layer signaling, a configuration indicating to receive a first reference signal in a set of OFDM symbols in a first slot. The UE attempts to detect a physical layer signaling in the first slot or in a second slot prior to the first slot. The UE refrains from conducting measurements of the first reference signal, when the physical layer signaling is detected by the UE and includes a first indication.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide an apparatus that includes a baseband processing circuit and a transmitting circuit. The baseband processing circuit is configured to encode a reference signal based on a specific sequence to generate a digital stream. The specific sequence has non-zero values at selected positions, and the number of coincidences of non-zero value positions between the specific sequence and a shifted copy of the specific sequence is smaller than a threshold. The transmitting circuit is configured to transmit wireless signals in response to the digital stream.

A processor of an apparatus can generate a signal containing at least an even-length Zadoff-Chu (ZC) sequence and transmit the signal to a receiving device. The even-length ZC sequence identifies the apparatus, carries information for signaling, or functions in time-frequency synchronization. The processor can also receive a signal containing at least an even-length ZC sequence and detect the even-length ZC sequence in the received signal.

Abstract: A flexible time-frequency grid is proposed. A baseline OFDM format consisting of CP and a following symbol interval is scaled in time to generate a set of extended OFDM frame formats. The set of extended OFDM frame formats is further extended by scaling in bandwidth. The OFDM frame formats and the extended OFDM frame format set are used dynamically in the wireless communication system in accordance to the changes of the communication environment. Furthermore, various methods are proposed to avoid and/or combat performance degradation of the resource elements (REs) interfered by non-orthogonal REs in the neighborhood due to different OFDM symbol configurations in the flexible time-frequency grid.

Each signature sequence of the set of signature sequences identifies the apparatus.
