Abstract:
As a result of an effort made by us for the purpose of developing a therapeutic agent having a bone formation-stimulating effect by promoting the functions of osteoblasts, the present inventors discovered that a certain nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound exhibits a potent bone formation-stimulating effect on the osteoblast and thus can serve as an excellent prophylactic or therapeutic agent against a metabolic bone disease, whereby establishing the present invention. Thus, the present invention provides a 3,6-disubstituted 1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-b]pyridazine compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as well as a pharmaceutical composition comprising such a compound and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, especially a bone-forming agent.

An endo-&bgr;-N-acetylglucosaminidase gene encoding the following protein (a) or (b): (a) a protein comprising the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 3; and (b) a protein comprising an amino acid sequence derived from the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 3 by deletion, substitution, or addition of at least one amino acid and having the activity of endo-&bgr;-N-acetylglucosaminidase.
Abstract:
A weight member is attached to a rotor so as to forcibly offset a center of gravity of a rotor from a rotating axis, centrifugal force moves two movable weight members to appropriate positions for canceling the unbalance due to the center of gravity offset from the rotating axis, and stoppers restrict the movement of the two movable weight members in a sectoral area opposite to the center of gravity so that the rotor is free from vibrations due to the characteristic angular velocity.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a novel enzyme having &bgr;1→4 N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase (GnT-IV) activity; a gene encoding the enzyme; a recombinant DNA comprising the gene; a host cell comprising the recombinant DNA; a method for producing an enzyme protein having GnT-IV activity comprising culturing the host cell in a medium; and a saccharide in which the sugar chain is modified using a GnT-IV. According to the present invention, a novel GnT-IV, a method for producing the enzyme and a gene coding for the enzyme are provided. With the GnT-IV of the present invention, it has become possible to produce a saccharide having a branching structure which could not be formed with conventional glycosyltransferases. Thus, the GnT-IV of the invention is useful not only for producing or improving glycoconjugate type pharmaceuticals, reagents and foods, but also for modifying the sugar chain structure of any biopolymer.
Abstract:
A scroll compressor having a simple structure is disclosed, which effectively decreases the thrust load imposed on the revolving scroll without degrading the compression efficiency. The scroll compressor includes a casing; a fixed scroll provided in the housing and comprising an end plate and a spiral protrusion built on one face of the end plate; and a revolving scroll provided in the casing and comprising an end plate and a spiral protrusion built on one face of the end plate, wherein the spiral protrusions of each scroll are engaged with each other so as to form a spiral compression chamber. In the above structure, an introduced working gas is compressed in the compression chamber and then discharged according to the revolution of the revolving scroll; a thrust member for thrust-supporting the end plate of the revolving scroll is provided at the back-face side of the end plate of the revolving scroll; a pressure pocket is formed in a face of one of the thrust member and the end plate of the revolving scroll, wherein the face faces the other of the thrust member and the end plate of the revolving scroll; and a high-pressure introduction hole for introducing a high-pressure fluid into the pressure pocket is provided at one of the thrust member side and the revolving scroll side.
Abstract:
A mechanism preventing rotation is mainly composed of plural swivel pins (31) projectingly provided on an end plate of a swiveling scroll (15), housing pins (32) which is the same number as the swivel pins (31) on a front end plate (11b) provided onto the end plate, and a pin engaging member (33) having plural holes (34) in which these pins (31) and (32) respectively. These holes (34) are formed sufficiently larger diameter than the swivel pin (31) and the housing pin (32). According to this mechanism preventing rotation, while the swiveling scroll (15) performs a revolution swivel movement, these pins (31) and (32) and the inner surface of the pin engaging member (33) controls radial maximum variation with sliding-contacting each other. Accordingly, fluid leak that occurs by an engaging position error of a stationary scroll and the swiveling scroll is effectively prevented and long service life and improvement of degree of freedom of designs are actualized.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a carbon material from which an electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) having a large capacitance can be fabricated. First, a carbon material is activated to produce crystallites of graphite-like carbon having interlayer distances of 0.365 to 0.385 nm. Positive and negative plates are fabricated using the crystallites.
