Abstract: An opto-mechanical coupler and corresponding method are provided. The coupler may include a first end and a second end configured to receive optical fibers and a top surface and bottomed surface defining a through hole extending between the top and bottom surfaces. The coupler may include a reflective surface that redirects the optical signals between a first direction and a second direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction. The coupler may position one or more optical fibers along a second direction such that an optical signal from the plurality of optoelectronic transceivers is directed into one or more optical fibers or an optical signal from the one or more optical fibers is directed into a plurality of the optoelectronic transceivers, with the coupler accommodating different diameters of optical fiber including POF, SMF, and/or MMF fiber.

Abstract: Systems, computer program products, and methods are described herein for intelligent data compression, in accordance with an embodiment of the invention. The present invention may be configured to receive a plurality of files for storage in a database and perform a series of steps iteratively, for each file of the plurality of files, and until each file of the plurality of files is represented in the database. The series of steps may include identifying one or more data points in the respective file, where each identified data point was previously unidentified in the database and adding the identified one or more data points to the database. The series of steps may also include identifying one or more features of the respective file for storage in the database and storing the identified one or more features in the database as a surrogate for the respective file.

Abstract: A method and system for large scale Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) binning from wafers to be compatible with a Clock-Data Recovery Unit (CDRU) and/or a VCSEL driver are provided. An illustrative method of binning is provided that includes: for at least a portion of VCSELs on a wafer, measuring a set of representative parameters of the VCSELs, of predetermined DC or small-signal values, and sorting the measured VCSELs into clusters according to the measured set of representative parameters of the VCSELs; further sorting the clusters into sub-groups that comply with specifications of the VCSEL driver; and providing a feedback signal to the CDRU for equalizing control signals provided to the VCSEL driver.

Abstract: Embodiments are disclosed for a coupling element with embedded modal filtering for a laser and/or a photodiode. An example system includes a laser and an optical coupling element. The laser is configured to emit an optical signal. The optical coupling element is configured to receive the optical signal emitted by the laser. The optical coupling element is also configured to be connected to an optical fiber such that, in operation, the optical signal is transmitted from the laser to the optical fiber via the optical coupling element. Abstract: A optical assembly and a method of reducing interference using the same may be provided. The optical assembly may include an optical cable and an optical transceiver module. The optical transceiver module may include a socket configured to receive the optical cable, an electro-optical transducer configured to generate an optical signal, and an optical lantern. The optical lantern may include an optical prism that may receive the optical signal via a first surface, disperse the optical signal into a plurality of modes of the optical signal, and output the plurality of modes via a second surface. A mirror may reflect the optical signal from a first direction extending between the first surface and the mirror to a second direction extending between the mirror and the second surface. The optical lantern may direct at least one of the plurality of modes of the optical signal into the optical cable.

An example optical component includes a body defined by an optical interposer substrate and a passivation layer applied to the optical interposer substrate. The passivation layer includes a metallic shielding element configured to prevent interference between the first surface and the second surface.
