摘要: An approach is provided for increasing content relevancy to user search queries by segmenting and summarizing media content. A probabilistic tag application segments a first media content item into at least a first segment and a second segment, associates a first keyword with the first segment, and assigns to the first keyword a first probability value indicating relevance of the first keyword to the first segment. Thereafter, the probabilistic tag application includes the first segment in a search result, in response to a search query including the first keyword.

摘要: A system and method for improving both coding efficiency and decoding accuracy in scalable video coding involving discardable lower layer adaptations, where applications can omit transmission of unused data for inter-layer prediction for all layers below an operation point of receivers. Indicator flags are utilized to avoid transmitting syntax elements that must be set to fixed values. In addition, padding algorithms or additional encoding constraints are applied to the encoding process.

摘要: The present invention relates to media synchronization. The invention is mainly addressed to synchronization of continuous media streams that are provided in data transfer systems. In a sending device, at least one of media components being transferred is provided, by means of data hiding, with synchronization information relating to one other of the media components. In a receiving device the media components are received, and synchronization information relating to one of the media component and being hid in at least one other media component is recovered from the at least one other media component, by means of which synchronization information the at least two media components are synchronized to be played.

摘要: Accelerated video decoding makes use of FEC-repaired media packets that become available through FEC decoding later than their intended decoding time, so to re-establish the integrity of the prediction chain between predicted pictures. The decoder state may be stored at the time of reception of an erroneous packet or at the time of identification of a lost packet, and decoding continued. After FEC repair, the last known state of the decoder is restored after the lost/damaged packet(s) is (are) resurrected through FEC, and accelerated decoding accordingly is used. Cycles “reserved” for decoding of a sub-sequence may be utilized. By freezing the decoded frame at the begin of a sub-sequence and decoding coded pictures of the main sequence that are part of the previous FEC block the integrity of the main prediction chain may be established again. Alternatively, cycles from enhancement layer decoding may be used.

摘要: In a multimedia streaming network where a client has a receiver buffer to store a plurality of packets received from a server so as to compensate for the difference between data transmission amount by the server and data usage amount by the client, the server should be able to adapt the data transmission rate based on the status of the receiver buffer. For rate adaptation purposes, server reconstructs a list of packets in the receiver buffer based on information provided by the client. The information signaled to the server is indicative of the next packet to be decoded in the client. The information can be the sequence number of the next packet to be decoded, the DON number of the next NAL unit to be decoded, or the sequence number of the packet carrying the next NAL unit to be decoded and the DON indicative of the decoding order of that next NAL unit.

摘要: The exemplary embodiments of this invention provide in one aspect thereof an ability to signal multiple decoding times for each sample in a file format level in order to allow, for example, different decoding times for each sample (or sample subset) between decoding an entire stream and decoding a subset of the stream. An alternate decoding time box is specified to allow for the signaling of multiple decoding times for each sample. Such a box can contain a compact version of a table that allows indexing from an alternate decoding time to a sample number, where an alternate decoding time is a decoding time to be used with a sample when only a subset of an elementary stream stored in a track is to be decoded. Furthermore, each entry in the table provides the number of consecutive samples with the same time delta, and the delta between those consecutive samples. By adding the deltas a complete time-to-sample map can be constructed.

摘要: Buffering packets of a media stream for transmission from a transmitting device to a receiving device. Media packets are formed from at least one kind of media information in a stream generator; forward error correction data is formed on the basis of the media packets; one or more repair packets are formed on the basis of the forward error correction data; and a transmission schedule is generated for packets to be transmitted. In addition, hypothetical decoding is also performed according to the transmission schedule. The hypothetical decoding comprises buffering the packets to be transmitted according to the transmission schedule to a hypothetical decoding buffer; and controlling the buffer occupancy level of the hypothetical decoding buffer by controlling the operation of the stream generator.

摘要: An improved system and method for implementing efficient decoding of scalable video bitstreams is provided. A virtual decoded picture buffer is provided for each lower layer of the scalable video bitstream. The virtual decoded picture buffer stores decoded lower layer pictures for reference. The decoded lower layer pictures used for reference are compiled to create a reference picture list for each layer. The reference picture list generated by the virtual decoded picture buffer is used during a direct prediction process instead of a target reference list to correctly decode a current macroblock.

摘要: A system and method of modifying error resiliency features by conveying temporal level 0 picture indices, such as tl0_pic_idx, within an SEI message instead of optionally including them in the NAL unit header is provided. In addition, a mechanism is provided for enabling repetition of any SEI messages in Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP) packets. Enabling such repetition of any SEI messages facilitates detection of lost temporal level 0 pictures on the basis of any received packet.
