A brushless electric motor has an output shaft and is able to generate a power for assisting turning of the steered shaft when energized. A worm gear is coaxially connected to the output shaft of the motor to constitute a combined shaft structure. The worm gear is meshed with the worm wheel. Two bearings bear axially opposite end portions of the combined shaft structure respectively.

    摘要: An elastically deflectable sensor body has an inner peripheral portion engaging with a first portion of a radially extending wall of a lid closing one end of a cylinder of a shock absorber for movement therewith and an outer peripheral portion engaging with a second portion of the radially extending wall. A first pair of diametrically opposed strain gages and a second pair of diametrically opposed strain gages are placed on the sensor body. A first Wheatstone bridge circuit has the two diametrically opposed strain gages of the first pair in series. A second Wheatstone bridge circuit has the two diametrically opposed strain gages of the second pair in parallel.

    摘要: A variable damping characteristics shock absorber includes a piezoelectric unit which serves as a sensor for detecting piston stroke and an actuator for adjusting stiffness of a flow restriction valve and thus for adjusting the damping characteristics of the shock absorber. The shock absorber includes a pair of flow restriction valves, in which one of valve is active in response to a piston bounding stroke for generating damping force by restricting the fluid flow and the other is active in response to a piston rebounding stroke for generating a damping force by restricting fluid flow. The piezoelectric unit is disposed between two valves in such a manner that it may monitor piston strokes both in the bounding and rebounding stroke directions and adjust stiffness of both of the flow restriction valves.

    摘要: A method of and a system for controlling a hydraulic shock absorber of an automobile are provided. In the shock absorber, a flow of damping fluid induces a load on an actuator of the shock absorber during bouncing and rebouncing of the shock absorber, and the actuator is actuated in response to an output signal of a control unit. In order for the actuator to counteract the load applied thereto, the output signal is modified in response to the load. According to the embodiment, the load is determined by a table look-up operation based on an input load detected by a load sensor mounted to the automobile.

    摘要: A suspension control system for an automotive vehicle is disclosed in which, in each shock absorber, interposed between the vehicular body and tire wheel, a damping coefficient varying adjuster is provided which changes a damping coefficient at either or both of piston stroke sides according to a control signal input thereto so that the damping coefficient is set to a target damping coefficient position, at lease one sprung mass acceleration sensor and at least one sprung mass speed sensor are provided, and the control unit is provided which outputs the control signal to the damping coefficient varying means according to a result of determination of whether the vertical sprung mass acceleration exceeds a predetermined threshold value and according to a direction and magnitude of the sprung mass speed so that the damping coefficient at either or both of the stroke sides is controlled to a target damping coefficient position.
