    Abstract: An example method includes generating, by a first user device, a first number representing a contention resolution priority for the first user device contending for at least one first resource over a first data period for transmitting a packet of data in a device-to-device (D2D) wireless network, determining if a second device, in the D2D wireless network, is contending for resources overlapping with the at least one first resource of the first data period, if the second device is contending for resources overlapping with the at least one first resource of the first data period, determining if a second number representing a contention resolution priority for the second user device is greater than the first number, and if the second number is greater than the first number, inhibiting the first user device from communicating using the at least one first resource of the first data period.

    Abstract: There is provided a method, comprising: at least partially controlling, by a network node, transmissions in a plural of radio access technologies, RATs, each RAT being capable of providing at least one communication link to a same user equipment; deciding to transmit a packet to the user equipment at least via a first RAT; requesting a transmission of the packet additionally via at least one other RAT; determining capability information corresponding to the requested transmission of the packet via the at least one other RAT; determining transmission setup for the packet to be transmitted via the first RAT based on the capability information, wherein the transmission set-up defines at least the number of transmissions to be performed for the packet by the first RAT; and instructing the transmission of the packet via the first RAT according to the determined transmission level.

    Abstract: For a communication between two UEs that passes through a network node, a total number of transmission attempts for a same set of data is divided between first and second data transmission attempt(s). The first data transmission attempt(s) are allowed to be performed from a first one of the two UEs toward the network node. The second data transmission attempt(s) are allowed to be performed from the network node or from a second network node toward a second one of the two UEs. Performance of the first and second data transmission attempt(s) is coordinated based on the division to cause communication of the set of data from the first UE to the second UE. A single network node may perform the first and second data transmission attempts, or a first network node performs the first data transmission attempts while a second network node performs the second data transmission attempts.
