    Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for GIS-NR beamforming for mmWave. For example, certain embodiments may provide for beam realignment, through which a serving network node may be able to re-position its beam towards a UE without the UE explicitly measuring and signalling to the network node the need for realignment. Instead of performing the traditional UE-based exhaustive beam search, the serving network node may proactively switch the beam in an attempt to track the UE movements. The serving network node may do this by corroborating information from two types of sources: 1) a set of neighbor mobile or fixed network nodes and 2) a geographic information system (GIS).

    Abstract: To facilitate positioning a user device, the user device is configured to measure, per an antenna array, reference signals received from transmission-reception points and to check, whether a downlink reference signal from a transmission-reception point is received in a serving antenna array and in one or more non-serving antenna arrays with a first delay. A non-serving antenna array receiving the signal with the first delay is an alternative antenna array to the serving antenna array. When the serving antenna array is under a maximum permissible exposure event, the user device is configured to select, which one of one or more alternative antenna arrays and the serving antenna panel is to be used for transmitting at least a positioning signal to the transmission-reception point.

    Abstract: An apparatus, method and computer program is described including: receiving, at a reader device from an activator device, a first activation signal directed towards a passive radio apparatus; receiving, from the passive radio apparatus, at least one first initial reply signal in relation to the first activation signal; transmitting, from the reader device, an indication for transmitting a second activation signal; receiving, from said activator device, the second activation signal directed towards the passive radio apparatus; receiving, from the passive radio apparatus, at least one second initial reply signal in relation to the second activation signal; determining, based at least partially on at least one second initial reply signal, location information related to at least one of a distance between the activator device and the passive radio apparatus, or a distance between the reader device and the passive radio apparatus; and transmitting the location information.

    Abstract: Aspects and embodiments relate to an apparatus and method for performing antenna panel management. There is provided an apparatus comprising: means for obtaining signal reception information related to at least one downlink signal received by a user equipment using at least one reception antenna panel of a plurality of selectively-activatable antenna panels; means for determining an indication of effective power radiatable to the network node from which the downlink signal is received, based on the signal reception information related to the at least one downlink signal received by that to antenna panel for each of the plurality of selectively-activatable antenna panels which is configurable to transmit a signal to a network node from which the downlink signal is received; means for calculating an indication of power consumption associated with the indication of effective power radiatable to the network node for each of the plurality of selectively-activatable antenna panels; and means for selecting and configuring at least one of the selectively-activatable antenna panels to be used for transmission of a signal to a network node from which the downlink signal is received in response to the calculated indication of power consumption. Aspects support appropriate power efficient operation of a communication apparatus, for example by allowing for differentiated uplink and downlink antenna panel selection, which can enable apparatus power saving, whilst minimising performance loss, or incurring no significant performance loss.
