Abstract: An image processing apparatus including: an image acquisition device for observing a living body; a blood vessel recognition device that irradiates the living body with an exploration laser beam and that recognizes a blood vessel; an arithmetic operation unit that calculates a first laser spot position on a first frame acquired by the image acquisition device when the blood vessel is recognized and that adds a mark corresponding to the first laser spot to a position on a second frame corresponding to the first frame, the second frame being acquired at a time different from the time of the first frame; and a display unit for displaying, on an image acquired by the image acquisition device, a plurality of the marks added by the arithmetic operation unit as a result of the blood vessel being recognized at a plurality of different times.

Abstract: A connection adapter includes: an adapter housing; a split sleeve; and a spacer having a space determiner disposed inside the split sleeve and an angle determiner that passes through the slit of the split sleeve to be secured relative to the adapter housing. The two connector connection pars are each connected to the connectors, respectively, causing the ferrules of the connectors to be fitted into the split sleeve and secured across the spacer, so that the single mode optical fibers of the connectors are optically connected to each other via no point of contact therebetween, to thereby provide a connection adapter capable of creating stable connection efficiency for optical fibers and an endoscope device using the connection adapter.

Abstract: Provided is a temperature measurement method for measuring an ambient temperature of a long-length medical device, using first and second optical fibers attached to the medical device, the first and second optical fibers extending in parallel with each other along a longitudinal direction of the medical device, and the first optical fiber having a distal end serving as a measurement unit extending beyond a distal end of the second optical fiber along a longitudinal direction of the first and second optical fibers. The method includes: measuring an optical path length difference between a first optical path including the first optical fiber and a second optical path including the second optical fiber; and calculating a temperature of the measurement unit based on the optical path length difference. When temperatures of the first and second optical fibers are uniform, optical path lengths of the first and second optical paths are equal.
