    Abstract: A hearing device comprises a forward path comprising an input transducer providing at an electric input signal representative of environment sound, a signal processor for processing said at least one electric input signal and providing a processed signal, and a loudspeaker connected to a speaker sound outlet providing an output sound to an eardrum of the user in dependence of said processed signal. The hearing device comprises an ITE-part adapted for being located in an ear canal of the user, an active emission canceller providing an electric sound cancelling signal, and an environment facing loudspeaker providing an output sound to the environment. The electric sound cancelling signal is determined in dependence of said processed signal to attenuate sound leaked from the speaker sound outlet to the environment when played by the environment facing loudspeaker. The environment facing loudspeaker has a sound outlet on an environment facing surface of the ITE-part.

    Abstract: The application relates to a hearing device adapted for being located at or in a first ear of a user, or to be fully or partially implanted in the head at a first ear of a user, the hearing device comprising a first input transducer for converting a first input sound signal from a sound field around the user at a first location, the first location being a location of the first input transducer, to a first electric input signal, the sound field comprising a mixture of a target sound from a target sound source and possible acoustic noise; a transceiver unit configured to receive a first quantized electric input signal via a communication link, the first quantized electric input signal being representative of the sound field around the user at a second location, the first quantized electric input signal comprising quantization noise due to a specific quantization scheme; a beamformer filtering unit adapted to receive said first electric input signal and said quantized electric input signal and to determine beamformer filtering weights, which, when applied to said first electric input signal and said quantized electric input signal, provide a beamformed signal, and a control unit adapted to control the beamformer filtering unit, wherein the control unit is configured to control the beamformer filtering unit taking account of said quantization noise. The invention may e.g. be used for the hearing aids and other portable electronic devices with limited power capacity.

    Abstract: The application relates to a hearing device comprising a beamformer of the generalized sidelobe canceler (GSC) type. The application further relates to a method of operating a hearing device. The disclosure addresses a problem which occurs when using a GSC structure in a hearing device application. The problem arises due to a non-ideal target-cancelling beamformer. As a consequence, a target signal impinging from the look direction can—unintentionally—be attenuated by as much as 30 dB. To resolve this problem, it is proposed to monitor the difference between the output signals from the all-pass beamformer and the target-cancelling beamformer to control a time-varying regularization parameter in the GSC update. This has the advantage of providing a computationally simple solution to the non-ideality of the GSC beamformer. The invention may e.g. be used in hearing aids, headsets, ear phones, active ear protection systems, or combinations thereof.

    Abstract: The application relates to a hearing system comprising a hearing device (HD), and a programming device (PD), and a feedback path analyzer (FPA) for providing an estimate of a feedback path from an output transducer to an input transducer of the hearing device. The hearing device (HD) and the programming device (PD) each comprises a programming interface (PI, PD-PI) allowing the exchange of data between the devices. The feedback path analyzer (FPA) is located in the programming device (PD), and the hearing device (HD) comprises respective input (IBUF) and output (OBUF) buffers for storing corresponding input and output time segments of the electric input signal or a signal derived therefrom and of the processed output signal or a signal derived therefrom, respectively. The hearing device (HD)—in a specific feedback measurement mode—is configured to transmit said stored input and output time segments of the respective signals to the feedback path analyzer (FPA) of the programming device (PD) via said programming interface (PI, PD-PI), and the feedback path analyzer (FPA) is configured to determine said estimate of the feedback path based on said (stored) input and output time segments. Thereby a more accurate estimation and/or a shorter measurement time can be achieved. The invention may e.g. be used for the fitting of hearing devices, e.g. hearing aids, to a particular use or user.

The hearing aid may further comprise a noise estimator configured to provide a current frequency dependent noise estimate representing a background noise level in the at least one electric input signal, an open loop transfer function estimator configured to provide a frequency dependent estimate of a current open loop transfer function in dependence of the intended forward path transfer function and the current estimate of the feedback transfer function, and a confidence level estimator configured to provide a current frequency dependent estimate of a confidence level of the current estimate of the feedback transfer function in dependence of a current estimate of open loop gain and optionally the current noise estimate. The hearing aid may be configured to control processing in the hearing aid in a frequency band k in dependence of said current estimate of the open loop transfer function and/or the current estimate of the feedback path transfer function, if the current estimate of the confidence level fulfils a confidence criterion in said frequency band k. A method of operating a hearing aid is further disclosed. The invention may e.g. be used to assess a risk of acoustic feedback in a hearing aid.
