Abstract: A light-emitting device includes a radiation source that radiates laser light as first primary light, and a first wavelength converter, and emits output light. The first wavelength converter has an incidence face on which the first primary light is incident, and an emission face through which the output light emits. A normal to the incidence face and a normal to the emission face are mutually different. A first phosphor included in the first wavelength converter is a single crystal phosphor.

Abstract: A wavelength converter includes a first phosphor activated with Cr3+; and a second phosphor activated with at least one ion of Ce3+ or Eu2+. A fluorescence spectrum of a fluorescence emitted by the second phosphor has a peak where a fluorescence intensity shows a maximum value in a wavelength range of 500 nm or more to less than 580 nm. The wavelength converter emits a fluorescence having a light component over an entire range of 500 nm or more to less than 580 nm. The wavelength converter emits a light having a spectrum in which a ratio of a minimum light emission intensity to a maximum light emission intensity is 40% or less in a wavelength range of 550 nm or more to 700 nm or less.

Abstract: A light emitting device includes a first wavelength converter that contains a first phosphor that absorbs at least part of primary light radiated by a radiation source and converts the primary light absorbed into secondary light, and a second wavelength converter that contains a second phosphor that absorbs at least part of the secondary light and converts the secondary light absorbed into tertiary light. The lifetime of fluorescence emitted from the second phosphor is longer than the lifetime of fluorescence emitted from the first phosphor, and the light density of the secondary light, with which the second wavelength converter is irradiated, is lower than the light density of the primary light, with which the first wavelength converter is irradiated.

Abstract: The phosphor has a broad excitation band provided by Ce3+ in an excitation spectrum. The excitation band has a peak in a range between 400 nm and 470 nm inclusive. The phosphor has, as an emission spectrum, a broad emission component provided by Ce3+ which has an emission peak wavelength of 510 nm or more to less than 570 nm and a linear emission component provided by Tb3+ which has an emission peak wavelength of 535 nm or more to less than 560 nm. The intensity of the emission spectrum shows the maximum at the wavelength of the linear emission component provided by Tb3+.

Abstract: A light emitting device includes a light source that emits a primary light having a light energy density exceeding 0.5W/mm2, and a first phosphor that absorbs the primary light to convert the primary light into a first wavelength-converted light having a wavelength longer than that of the primary light. Abstract: A wavelength converter 100 includes: a first phosphor 1 composed of an inorganic phosphor activated by Ce3+; and a second phosphor 2 composed of an inorganic phosphor activated by Ce3+ and different from the first phosphor. At least one of the first phosphor and the second phosphor is particulate. The first phosphor and the second phosphor are bonded to each other by at least one of a chemical reaction in a contact portion between the compound that constitutes the first phosphor and a compound that constitutes the second phosphor and of adhesion between the compound that constitutes the first phosphor and the compound that constitutes the second phosphor.

Abstract: Alight emitting device (A) includes a laser light source (1) that emits laser light (100), a housing (2A) that includes a bottom wall (3) and a side wall, and a first wavelength converter (20) provided on the side wall, the first wavelength converter (20) containing a first phosphor. The bottom wall of the housing is irradiated with the laser light emitted from the laser light source, and the first phosphor is excited by diffused light of the laser light diffused by the bottom wall. With such a configuration, the light emitting device (A) improves color uniformity and chromaticity flexibility while increasing power density of output light.

Abstract: A light emitting device 1 includes: a substrate 30; and a phosphor layer 40 composed in such a manner that a large number of phosphor particles 60 are adhered onto a flat surface 32 of the substrate 30. At least one of the phosphor particles 60 is a polyhedral phosphor particle 65 that is monodispersed, is derived from a crystal structure of garnet and has facets, and a median particle size D50 of the polyhedral phosphor particle 65 is 30 μm or more and a maximum thickness of the phosphor layer 40 or less. It is preferable that at least one of the phosphor particles 60 adhered onto the flat surface 32 of the substrate 30 is the polyhedral phosphor particle 65 that is monodispersed, is derived from the crystal structure of the garnet, and has the facets.

Abstract: An inorganic oxide has a composition represented by General formula: M2LnX2(AlO4)3 (where M includes Ca, Ln includes Eu, and X includes at least either one of Zr and Hf). Then, a crystal structure of the inorganic oxide is a garnet-type structure. Eu3+ in the inorganic oxide emits a plurality of bright line-like fluorescent components, and a principal bright line of the fluorescent component is present within a wavelength range of 600 nm or more to less than 628 nm. Moreover, a maximum height of the bright line present within a wavelength range of 700 nm or more to less than 720 nm is less than 60% of a maximum height of the principal bright line. A phosphor composed of the inorganic oxide can emit narrowband red light with good color purity.
