摘要: A method for manufacturing a laser diode device includes providing a substrate having a surface region and forming epitaxial material overlying the surface region, the epitaxial material comprising an n-type cladding region, an active region comprising at least one active layer overlying the n-type cladding region, and a p-type cladding region overlying the active layer region. The epitaxial material is patterned to form a plurality of dice, each of the dice corresponding to at least one laser device, characterized by a first pitch between a pair of dice, the first pitch being less than a design width. Each of the plurality of dice are transferred to a carrier wafer such that each pair of dice is configured with a second pitch between each pair of dice, the second pitch being larger than the first pitch.

摘要: A smart light source configured for visible light communication. The light source includes a controller comprising a modem configured to receive a data signal and generate a driving current and a modulation signal based on the data signal. Additionally, the light source includes a light emitter configured as a pump-light device to receive the driving current for producing a directional electromagnetic radiation with a first peak wavelength in the ultra-violet or blue wavelength regime modulated to carry the data signal using the modulation signal. Further, the light source includes a pathway configured to direct the directional electromagnetic radiation and a wavelength converter optically coupled to the pathway to receive the directional electromagnetic radiation and to output a white-color spectrum. Furthermore, the light source includes a beam shaper configured to direct the white-color spectrum for illuminating a target of interest and transmitting the data signal.

摘要: The invention relates to a component with a main part and a contact structure. The main part has an active zone which is designed to generate electromagnetic radiation at least in some regions during the operation of the component. The contact structure has a plurality of individually actuatable segments. The component has a connection surface and a lateral surface running transversely to the connection surface, and the lateral surface is designed as a radiation passage surface of the component. The connection surface is designed to be structured, wherein the connection surface is defined by common internal boundary surfaces between the main part and the contact structure, and each segment has a local common boundary surface with the main part and is designed for a pixelated current impression into the main part. The invention additionally relates to a method for operating such a component.

摘要: A mobile device includes a camera and a light source module embedded in the mobile device. The light source module includes at least a laser-pumped phosphor light source that includes a photoluminescent phosphor and a laser diode to generate laser light within a first wavelength range to pump the photoluminescent phosphor. Exposure of the photoluminescent phosphor to the laser light results in emission of visible light within a second wavelength range according to a laser-pumped emission spectrum associated with the photoluminescent phosphor.

A reflective material surrounds sides of the optical element.

摘要: A light source device includes a semiconductor light-emitting device which emits coherent excitation light, and a wavelength conversion element which is spaced from the semiconductor light-emitting device, generates fluorescence by converting the wavelength of the excitation light emitted from semiconductor light-emitting device, and generates scattered light by scattering the excitation light. The wavelength conversion element includes a support member, and a wavelength converter disposed on the support member. The wavelength converter includes a first wavelength converter, and a second wavelength converter which is disposed around the first wavelength converter to surround the first wavelength converter in a top view of the surface of the support member on which the wavelength converter is disposed. The ratio of the intensity of fluorescence to that of scattered light is lower in the second wavelength converter than in the first wavelength converter.

摘要: The embodiments described herein provide a device and method for an integrated white colored electromagnetic radiation source using a combination of laser diode excitation sources based on gallium and nitrogen containing materials and light emitting source based on phosphor materials. A violet, blue, or other wavelength laser diode source based on gallium and nitrogen materials may be closely integrated with phosphor materials, such as yellow phosphors, to form a compact, high-brightness, and highly-efficient, white light source. The phosphor material is provided with a plurality of scattering centers scribed on an excitation surface or inside bulk of a plate to scatter electromagnetic radiation of a laser beam from the excitation source incident on the excitation surface to enhance generation and quality of an emitted light from the phosphor material for outputting a white light emission either in reflection mode or transmission mode.
