More specifically, methods are provided for hydrophilic membranes from a solution comprising an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer, water, and a first solvent. At least a portion of the first solvent is removed from the porous substrate at a temperature no greater than 500 C. for forming a hydrophilic membrane.

    摘要: A coated porous material and a method for making the same. The coated porous material includes a porous substrate having a plurality of pores. A hydrophilic coating including, in a single layer, ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer and at least one crosslinked polymer, is present on a plurality of inner pore walls. The method includes: (a) providing a porous substrate; (b) applying a coatable composition to at least a portion of the inner pore walls of the porous substrate, the coatable composition made of ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer, at least one polymerizable compound and solvent; (c) removing at least a portion of the solvent from the coatable composition to dry the coatable composition; (d) saturating the porous substrate and the coatable composition with a rewetting solution; and (e) polymerizing the polymerizable compound to form the hydrophilic coating on the pore walls and to provide the coated porous material.
