Abstract:
A method for automatic call forwarding, includes: designating a first subscription as a subscription to receive circuit switched calls and packet switched calls; designating a second subscription as a subscription to receive circuit switched calls; and automatically forwarding a circuit switched call received on the first subscription to the second subscription when a packet switched call is active on the first subscription.
Abstract:
Methods and devices are disclosed for enabling efficient network registration using a shared radio resource for at least a first and second SIM of a multi-SIM wireless communication device. After the end of a radio-off condition of the radio resource, the wireless device may identify services supported by each of the first and second SIMs, evaluate criticality of the supported services, determine which of the first and second SIM supports the service having the highest criticality, and prevent the other SIM from registering with its network before the SIM with the service of the highest criticality has successfully registered for service in its selected network.
Abstract:
The various embodiments provide methods implemented by a mobile communication device for determining whether to camp on a cell based on an updated measurement of the received signal strength associated with the cell. A mobile communication device may determine an updated received signal strength for an absolute radio-frequency channel number (“ARFCN”) associated with a cell while or after acquiring and decoding the ARFCN's broadcast control channel. The mobile communication device may utilize the updated signal strength value when calculating the ARFCN's cell's suitability criteria instead of the potentially stale signal strength value acquired during an initial power scan over the frequency band, thereby enabling the mobile communication device to make more accurate cell suitability determinations. Thus, the mobile communication device may experience an increase in performance and/or may increase the user's experience.
Abstract:
A multi-subscriber identification module (SIM) wireless communication device with a first SIM and a second SIM associated with a shared radio frequency (RF) resource may determine that timing collisions are predicted between an active period of a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle associated with the first SIM and an active period of a DRX cycle associated with the second SIM. In response, the wireless communication device may determine whether the first SIM is registered with an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) to use Voice-over-wireless local area network (VoWLAN) service over a wireless local area network (WLAN). If the first SIM is registered with the IMS to use VoWLAN service over the WLAN, the wireless communication device may shift the conflicting DRX cycle associated with the first SIM by a time margin, and receive paging messages for mobile terminating calls on the modem stack associated with the first SIM over the WLAN.
Abstract:
A method for public land mobile network (PLMN) search on a mobile communication device includes: initiating a PLMN search for a first plurality of radio access technologies (RATs) associated with a first subscription; determining whether one or more of the first plurality of RATs associated with the first subscription are also associated with a second subscription; and performing a PLMN search for the one or more of the first plurality of RATs that are also associated with the second subscription using an RF chain associated with the second subscription.
Abstract:
A multi-Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) wireless communication device includes: a first communications unit; a second communications unit; a recording unit; and a control unit configured to cause the first communications unit to interrupt output of a first audio output signal to a sound reproduction device and conduct a first decoded audio signal to the recording unit; and the control unit configured to cause the second communications unit to output a second audio output signal to the sound reproduction device.
Abstract:
Methods and devices are disclosed for increasing capacity for handling simultaneous calls to a particular SIM of a wireless communication device having at least a first and second SIM and corresponding first and second radio resources. If a preset maximum number of calls has been reached for a first of the modem stacks, and a radio resource of another other modem stack is handling less than its preset maximum number of calls, the wireless device may send a signal to the network serving the first SIM to activate the call forwarding function. While activated, calls addressed to the first SIM may be received by the wireless device on radio resource associated with the other SIM.
Abstract:
A method for performing cell reselection by a wireless communication device is described. The method includes determining that the wireless communication device should perform reselection to a target cell from a serving cell. The method also includes determining that the wireless communication device does not have paging channel information of the target cell. The method further includes prioritizing reading paging channel information from a broadcast channel of the target cell over reading a paging channel of the serving cell.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods and apparatuses for providing notifications in a communication network of a plurality of Internet of Things (IoT) devices. In an aspect, a supervisor device in the communication network detects a notification directed to a wireless mobile device in the communication network and sends at least one instruction to at least a first IoT device of the plurality of IoT devices to reduce an operating volume or suspend operation of the first IoT device. The first IoT device receives the at least one instruction from the supervisor device and reduces the operating volume of the IoT device or suspends the operation of the IoT device in response to the at least one instruction.
Abstract:
Embodiments described herein relate to extending an awake period (on duration) or an inactivity timer duration in a Connected Discontinuous Reception (CDRX) mode for a first subscription based on activities of a second subscription. A method according to some embodiments includes determining that the awake period of the CDRX cycle associated with the first subscription collides with the activities of the second subscription, and extending the awake period by an extended awake period in response to determining that the awake period collides with the activities of the second subscription. In addition, a method according to some embodiments includes determining that the inactivity timer duration collides with the activities of the second subscription, and extending the inactivity timer duration for an extended inactivity timer duration in response to determining that the inactivity timer duration collides with the activities of the second subscription.
