Abstract:
Methods and systems of communication using a mobile device that include detecting a movement of the mobile device associated with transitioning from speaker phone mode to earpiece mode, or vice versa, and in response to detecting such movement, automatically transitioning the device to a different mode of operation. The detected action may be the motion and/or positioning of the device handset, such as the movement of the handset towards or away from the user's ear, and/or the placement of the handset on a surface in a face-up or face-down position. Further methods and systems for transitioning between communication pathways and security modes in response to a detected movement of the mobile device.
Abstract:
Methods, devices, systems, and non-transitory processor-readable storage media for providing a collaboration tool for soliciting responses from users, including operations for receiving at a computing device a request from a user, transmitting to a plurality of computing devices an invitation message that causes the plurality of computing devices to render a display that solicits a response to the request, receiving a response message related to the request from at least one of the plurality of computing devices, evaluating the received response message to determine whether the received response message fulfills the request, and transmitting to the plurality of computing devices a cancellation message in response to determining that the received response message fulfills the request, the cancellation message configured to cause the plurality of computing devices to perform operations to automatically clean-up the display that solicits the response to the request.
Abstract:
A user equipment (UE) selectively attempts recovery of lost media for a real-time communication session. In an embodiment, the UE detects presence of a lost media packet from another UE participating in the real-time communication session that did not successfully arrive at the UE. The UE evaluates a set of recovery criteria associated with the lost media packet to attempt to dynamically select at least one external source from a plurality of external sources from which the lost media packet can potentially be recovered at different predicted reliabilities and/or response times for attempting recovery of the lost media packet based on the set of recovery criteria. The UE attempts to recover the lost media packet from the selected at least one external source based on the evaluation.
Abstract:
Methods, systems and devices are provided for managing press-to-transmit (PTX) communications on a PTX device, including include receiving at a recipient PTX device a first indication that a floor grant has been granted to an originating PTX device. Also, determining whether a PTX message segment from the originating PTX device should be buffered for delayed playback by the recipient PTX device. Further, transmitting a buffer signal based on determining the PTX message segment should buffered, the buffer signal indicating one of a request to buffer the PTX message segment and a recipient storage indication signifying the PTX message segment will be stored in a memory of the recipient PTX device. Further still, transmitting a ready signal indicating the recipient PTX device is ready to output PTX message segments.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for controlling group communications using a mobile device includes detecting a motion of the mobile device corresponding to a user placing the device on a surface, maintain a communication session with another mobile device while the user is detected in proximity to the first mobile device, and entering a non-active communication mode when the user is not detected in proximity to the device. The communication session may be maintained for a time-out period before entering the non-active mode. Further methods and systems include transitioning to a non-active communication mode in response to detecting a motion of the mobile device corresponding to a user placing the device on a surface.
Abstract:
In an embodiment, a UE is participating in a communication session that shares a video stream with target UE(s). The UE receives user input that identifies high priority portion(s) of the video stream. The UE generates a first video feed based on the high priority portion(s) and a second video feed based at least on other portion(s) of the video stream. The first and second video feeds are exchanged with the target UE(s) on first and second links, respectively. In an example, the first link that carries the first video feed can be allocated QoS. The target UE(s) combine the first and second video feeds to reconstruct a version of the video stream, and then present the reconstructed version of the video stream.
Abstract:
Methods, systems and devices are provided for managing electronic communications on a communication device including receiving an incoming call indication from an originating device. The methods, system and devices may include transmitting a delay indication in response to determining the delayed call acceptance is warranted and receiving a first message segment and subsequently a second message segment from the originating device. Additionally, they may include outputting at least one of the first message segment and the second message segment in response to determining whether to output at least one of the first message segment and the second message segment. Further, they may include transmitting a playback status including a series of status indications reflecting an updated output progress of the first message segment at a recipient device in response to determining the first message segment should be output.
Abstract:
Exemplary techniques for sending data packages, such as media objects, during group communication sessions between wireless telecommunication devices, such as push-to-talk communication sessions, are disclosed. In one embodiment, the data packages, such as discrete data packages, are queued at the transmitting wireless communication device and then sent to other group members upon establishment of channels for group communications to the group members. The data packages can also be queued at the group communication server prior to being sent to a target device.
Abstract:
Methods and systems of communication using a mobile device include detecting a motion of a mobile device corresponding to a user action, in response to the detected motion, initiating a half-duplex group communication application, and displaying visual feedback associated with the half-duplex group communication application on a display screen of the mobile device.
Abstract:
In an embodiment, a communication device (e.g., a user equipment (UE), a server, etc.) determines one or more current parameters associated with an operating environment of the first UE, and then excludes at least one communication mode from one or more available communication modes to produce a set of communication modes by which a second UE is recommended to contact the first UE. In another embodiment, the communication device selectively recommends communication groups to users of UEs with current operational capabilities similar to characteristics of the recommended communication groups. In another embodiment, a server determines that a threshold number or a threshold percentage of group-members of an existing communication group are friends with a set of users that do not yet belong to the existing communication group, and then recommends that the set of users join the existing communication group.
