Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured to receive a downlink transmission from a first cell, where the downlink transmission includes information for performing one or more actions associated with a second cell. The UE may identify a satisfaction of a trigger condition associated with one or more parameters at the UE based on a power level of the UE being less than or equal to a threshold power level, a throughput at the UE being less than or equal to a threshold throughput, or both. The UE may additionally identify at least one bandwidth associated with the second cell based on a previous wireless connection. The UE may compare, the at least one bandwidth associated with the second cell with a threshold bandwidth. The UE may then perform at least one action associated with a procedure based on the comparing.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for providing local broadcasts for group calls. A user equipment (UE) may request a group call, and either a base station or a local server dedicated to the base station may determine whether to allow the group call based at least in part on an assessed level of interest for the group call. If the group call occurs, the UE may perform one or more aspects of user plane processing for the broadcast data—such as setting Internet protocol (IP) addresses in IP packets, encryption, compression, or media formatting—and may transmit the broadcast data to the base station. The base station may then transmit the broadcast data to one or more interested UEs via one or more multicast transmissions without routing the broadcast data through other network nodes, which may reduce latency and provide other benefits.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication and techniques to prevent frequent beam switching. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine a duration of time that the UE dwells on a beam. The UE may update a data structure, stored in memory of the UE, to add or modify a stored duration value associated with the beam based at least in part on determining the duration of time that the UE dwells on the beam. The UE may determine that a condition associated with the stored duration value is satisfied. The UE may modify a priority of the beam in connection with a beam selection procedure based at least in part on determining that the condition associated with the stored duration value is satisfied. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment may determine a predicted tune-away for a set of voice frames. In some aspects, the user equipment may alter a vocoder rate from a first vocoder rate to a second vocoder rate that is less than the first vocoder rate based at least in part on determining the predicted tune-away for the set of voice frames. In some aspects, the user equipment may drop, in connection with an occurrence of the predicted tune-away, a subset of packets for a time period corresponding to the predicted tune-away. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Abstract: Embodiments methods implemented with a server or a processor of a mobile communication device (e.g., a multi-standby communication device) reduce the redundancy information needed to achieve adequate reception service on a first radio access technology (RAT) sharing an RF resource with a second RAT. The device processor may implement at least one tune-away management strategy that mitigates the amount of data for the first RAT that is lost during the tune-away event. Thus, by implementing the one or more tune-away management strategies, the device processor may ensure that less redundancy information overhead is needed to correct or replace lost or partially received data, improving latency, channel usage, and the first RAT's overall reception performance. In some embodiments, a server may implement one or more strategies for including redundancy information into data that is sent to a first RAT to mitigate the negative effects of tune aways on the first RAT.

Abstract: Resource and power savings in internal data transfer in enhanced multimedia broadcast-multicast service (eMBMS) is disclosed herein which may include receiving, by a modem processor of a mobile device, data packets of a data object from a broadcast-multicast service. The modem processor may buffer the received data packets without forwarding the buffered data packets to an application processor associated with the modem processor. The modem processor may also determine an end of a segment of the data object. The segment may indicate a period during which the data object is scheduled to be received by the modem processor. The modem processor may forward, in a single data burst, the buffered data packets to the application processor before the end of the segment
