    摘要: Apparatus for dispensing a preservative or other substance, in solid or liquid form, onto a crop material being baled, the substance being dispensed onto the crop material before it is baled at a rate which is dependent on the moisture content of the crop material and the bulk rate of flow of crop material through the baler. The apparatus, which may be mounted on a square baler or a round baler, includes a first sensor for sensing the moisture content of the crop material and producing a first signal, a second sensor for producing an output signal indicative of the bulk rate of corp flow through the baler, and a control circuit responsive to the first signal and the second signal for producing a pulse width modulated signal for controlling the speed of a motor. The motor controls the rate at which the substance is dispensed from a container onto the crop material.

    摘要: Bale shape monitoring apparatus for use in combination with a round baler having an expandable bale forming chamber. The apparatus alternately illuminates first and second indicator lights in response to predetermined expansion of the bale forming chamber. The apparatus includes first and second electrical switches arranged in quadrature and connected to the first and second indicator lights by a microcomputer, and a plurality of cam lobes formed on the outer periphery of a ring for activating the switches. A method for monitoring bale shape in a round baler utilizes the first and second indicator lights and the first and second electrical switches. According to this method, the first indicator light is illuminated by opening the first and second switches and by closing the first and second switches. The second indicator light is illuminated by closing the first switch while the second switch remains open and by opening the first switch while the second switch remain closed.

    摘要: An automatic round or roll baler includes a microprocessor controlled signal processing circuit for controlling the wrapping of bales in a predetermined wrapping pattern. The wrapping pattern is generated by selectively actuating switches to produce a wrap sequence table containing control words. The control words are subsequently accessed in sequence to control the application of control signals to a motor which drives a twine dispensing mechanism. The last control word stored in the sequence table includes a "home" code which causes the motor to be driven in a direction toward a home position. A home position switch is provided for sensing when the twine dispensing mechanism is in the home position. In response to the home code the twine dispensing mechanism is driven toward the home position until the home switch is actuated at which time the drive to the twine dispensing mechanism is terminated. This insures that each bale wrapping sequence begins with the twine dispensing mechanism in the home position. A time count is initiated when the home control word is accessed and if the time count should expire before the home position switch senses that the dispensing mechanism reaches the home position the microprocessor locks into a loop so that the operator must intervene to correct the malfunction.

    摘要: A method for calibrating a proportional solenoid valve used in the propulsion system of a windrower, wherein a programmable control module in connection with a valve and a sensor is programmed as part of an automatic calibration routine for directing test control signals to the valve for causing a predetermined displacement of the hydraulic cylinder, the test control signals having values which vary based on the actual displacement of the hydraulic cylinder as compared with a predetermined value of displacement, and operating the hydraulic cylinder using the test control signal that causes the predetermined displacement of the element. The predetermined displacements correspond to the crack points, or the electrical signal levels at which two ports of interest are just beginning to open to one another from a closed position. Of particular interest are the crack points from the supply pressure port to each of the work ports and from the tank port to each of the work ports.

    摘要: A method of controlling the operation of a loader to encourage the use of an operator restraint mechanism is disclosed wherein a first signal is generated by a seat sensor to indicate the presence of the operator in the operator seat and a second signal is generated by a sensor in the operator restraint mechanism to indicate use of the mechanism. The hydraulic system will not be enabled unless the second signal is generated immediately subsequent to the generation of the first signal. Unless the first and second signals are generated in the proper sequence, the starting of the engine will also be disabled. The generation of first and second inverse signals, indicating the lack of the presence of the operator in the seat and the disengagement of the operator restraint mechanism, respectively, will disable the loader hydraulic system. A delay is provided to permit the operator to vacate the seat for a short period of time without having to resequence the generation of the first and second signals to enable the loader hydraulic system.

    摘要: A potentiometer is driven by one of the serpentine arm assemblies used to maintain apron tension during formation of a round bale so that the output of the potentiometer continuously provides an indication of the size of a bale being formed in the baler. A microprocessor based control circuit senses the output of the potentiometer, converts it to a digital value, and compares the digital value with a value representing a desired bale size. When the two values are equal, the microprocessor computes the number of revolutions of a net feed roll that is required to wrap the bale a preselected number of times, energizes the net feed roll mechanism to feed net into the bale forming chamber, and counts the revolutions of the net feed roll. When the required amount of net has been dispensed, the microprocessor stops the net feed roll and activates a mechanism to cut the net. The size of a "full bale" is selected by actuating keys on a control panel. An offset is automatically provided to compensate for wear in the apron mechanism affecting the "zero" setting of the bale size sensor. The system permits signalling the operator to steer left or right along a window to control bale shape as the bale being formed in the chamber increases in diameter, the signalling rate being non-linear with respect to bale diameter.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for cancelling cyclically recurring noise induced in a magnetic metal detector by movement of ferrous machine parts in the field of the detector provides for periodically sampling the output of the metal detector, delaying each sample for the duration of one cycle of the cyclically recurring noise, and subtracting the samples taken in one cycle from the output of the metal detector during the following cycle. The delay is accomplished by a delay line or shift register, or by storing the samples under microprocessor control. If the noise has a first component occuring at a first rate and a second component occuring at a second rate cancellation of both components may be accomplished.
