The present invention provides a method and system for managing contact information in a universal plug and play (UPnP) home network environment. In one embodiment, the present invention provides a method of a telephony server (TS) for providing contact information to a telephony control point (TelCP) in a universal plug and play home network environment. The method includes receiving a request for providing contact information updates associated with at least one contact entry from the TelCP connected to the TS in an UPnP home network environment. The method further includes obtaining the requested contact information updates from an address book associated with the at least one contact entry. The method also includes providing the obtained contact information updates associated with the at least one contact entry to the TelCP.

Methods and apparatuses are provided for providing a presence notification. A presence server receives a request including a filtering rule from a watcher client. The filtering rule is defined based on presence attributes of the watcher client. The presence server stores a notification blocking filter corresponding to the filtering rule, when the request has been authorized using authorization related information.

Methods and apparatus are provided for sharing device capabilities of Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) devices with a service provider entity. Device capabilities of one or more UPnP devices in a UPnP home network environment are obtained. The device capabilities are aggregated. The aggregated device capabilities are mapped in a user agent profile. The user agent profile including the device capabilities is communicated to the service provider entity so that the service provider entity delivers telephony services to the one or more UPnP devices according to respective device capabilities.

A method in which a first device forms a peer to peer (P2P) group with a second device is provided. The method includes sending an invitation request to the second device; and performing a negotiation process to form the P2P group with the second device if an invitation response to the invitation request is received from the second device. The invitation response includes device information identifying the second device. The negotiation process is performed using the device information.

The method includes determining at least one file to be transmitted through a Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) Direct connection, selecting, by device discovery, a peer terminal to receive the at least one file, transmitting, to the peer terminal, a first frame including file attribute information about the at least one file, before the Wi-Fi Direct connection is established with the peer terminal, and receiving, from the peer terminal, a second frame, including information indicating whether the Wi-Fi Direct connection to the peer terminal is accepted or rejected.

The present disclosure relates to a pre-5th-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates beyond 4th-Generation (4G) communication system such as a Long Term Evolution (LTE). Embodiments herein provide a method for establishing a wireless-fidelity (Wi-Fi) direct connection between a first user equipment (UE) and a second UE. The method includes sending, by a trusted network entity, a request message to each of the first UE and the second UE. Further, the method includes receiving, by the trusted network entity, a response message from each of the first UE and the second UE. Further, the method includes generating, by the trusted network entity, at least one Wi-Fi key based on the response message. Further, the method includes sending, by the trusted network entity, a setup request message to each of the first UE and the second UE, wherein the setup request message comprises the at least one of a Wi-Fi key, a group owner identifier, and network data to establish the Wi-Fi direct connection between the first UE and the second UE.

A method and a device for setup of wireless communication is provided. The method includes recognizing at least one terminal present in a same space as the device, sending a request for a connection between the device and an access point (AP) to the at least one terminal, receiving AP information necessary for connection to the AP from the at least one terminal corresponding to the request, and attempting to connect to the AP based on the AP information.
