    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. A terminal in a wireless communication system and method thereof are provided for receiving a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS). The method includes receiving configuration information on a CSI-RS, the configuration information including information on a transmission bandwidth of the CSI-RS; identifying a transmission bandwidth of a synchronization signal block (SSB); and receiving the SSB and the CSI-RS. When the SSB and the CSI-RS are configured to be allocated in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM symbol), the transmission bandwidth of the SSB and the transmission bandwidth of the CSI-RS are not overlapped.
