摘要: A plasma discharge method and a plasma display using the same. In the method, a sustain discharge uses a facing surfaces discharge and a surface discharge after an address discharge. The discharges occur in separate discharge areas, and priming particles generated by the discharges are exchanged. Thus, the stability and the efficiency of the sustain discharge increase, and a gap for the address discharge decreases to lower a breakdown voltage.

摘要: A plasma display that includes a lower substrate and an upper substrate arranged opposite to each other and separated by a constant distance, with a discharge space being arranged between the substrates, a plurality of partitions arranged between the lower substrate and the upper substrate that partition the discharge space into a plurality of discharge cells, a plurality of address electrodes arranged on an upper surface of the lower substrate, a first dielectric layer arranged on the upper surface of the lower substrate and covering the address electrodes, a plurality of first sustain electrodes arranged on a lower surface of the upper substrate and having the shape of a closed loop corresponding to each discharge cell, a plurality of second sustain electrodes arranged between the upper substrate and the lower substrate and having a shape of a closed loop corresponding to closed loops in the first sustain electrodes, and a phosphor layer arranged on the upper surface of the first dielectric layer and on sidewalls of the partitions.

摘要: A plasma display panel (PDP) and a flat lamp using a boron nitride bamboo shoot (BNBS). The PDP includes a front substrate and a rear substrate opposing each other and having a plurality of discharge cells between them, a plurality of address electrodes arranged on the rear substrate in parallel to each other, a plurality of sustain electrodes arranged on the front substrate in parallel to each other and crossing the address electrodes, a dielectric layer arranged on the sustain electrodes, and a plurality of secondary electron emission electrodes arranged on the dielectric layer in parallel to each other and corresponding to the sustain electrodes, respectively. The secondary electron emission electrodes include the BNBS.

摘要: A plasma display panel includes: a front substrate and a rear substrate which face each other and which form a discharge space; a plurality of address electrodes arranged in stripes on an upper surface of the rear substrate; a first dielectric layer that is formed on the upper surface of the rear substrate and covers the address electrodes; a plurality of partition walls that are formed on the upper surface of the rear substrate and partition the discharge space so as to form a plurality of discharge cells; a fluorescent layer formed on an upper surface of the first dielectric layer and on sidewalls of a plurality of partition walls, the fluorescent layer forming inner surfaces of the discharge cells; first and second sustain electrodes that are formed on a lower surface of the front substrate in each of the discharge cells in a direction perpendicular to the address electrodes, each of the first sustain electrodes and each of the second sustain electrodes comprising a plurality of electrodes; and a second dielectric layer formed on the lower surface of the front substrate to cover the first and the second sustain electrodes, the second dielectric layer having protruding portions formed between the first an the second sustain electrodes and protruding into each of discharge cells.

摘要: A driving apparatus for a plasma display panel with a pulse generator to supply an alternating pulse to an electrode, and an energy recovering unit to store charges from a discharge cell when the pulse voltage decreases or to output the stored charges to the discharge cell when the pulse voltage increases. The energy recovering unit has a magnetic switch, coupled with the discharge cell and an energy storage capacitor, with variable inductance to control transient time when the pulse transitions from a first voltage to a second voltage. The transient time is based on LC resonance of the magnetic switch inductance and panel capacitance, and can be reduced to improve resolution of the panel. Insulated gate bipolar transistors can be used with the magnetic switches to reduce power loss during switching and in the on-state, and can sustain high voltages necessary for high concentration Xe discharge gas.

摘要: A plasma display panel includes a first substrate and a second substrate facing each other and a plurality of barrier ribs partitioning a space therebetween to form a plurality of discharge cells. Address electrodes are arranged on the first substrate, and a plurality of first sustain electrodes and a plurality of second sustain electrodes are arranged between the second substrate and the barrier ribs to cause a surface discharge inside the discharge cells. The first sustain electrodes and the second sustain electrodes are arranged at locations corresponding to locations of the barrier ribs.

摘要: A display device uses electron accelerating layers in conjunction with electrodes at different voltages to emit electron beams with energy levels sufficient to excite a gas, which emits ultraviolet rays that in turn excite a light emitting layer to emit visible light. The use of electron accelerating layers makes it possible to excite the gas using a lower driving voltage and achieve improved luminous efficiency.
