A display apparatus, a backlight unit, a backlight providing method for controlling a plurality of light emitting diode (LED) strings are provided. The display apparatus includes a display panel, and a backlight unit (BLU) which projects backlight onto the display panel, wherein the BLU includes a plurality of light emitting diode (LED) strings, and a power supply unit which supplies minimum voltage from among the voltages needed to operate the plurality of LED strings to the plurality of LED strings. Therefore, the plurality of LED strings can have the same luminance.

The method of image enhancement includes acquiring color information from an image, determining a color distribution of the image based on the color information, and changing a brightness of the image based on the color distribution.

A display apparatus comprising a display unit and a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) provided in a backlight that illuminates the display unit, the display apparatus includes: a power supplier; a current detector which detects a value of a current flowing in each of the LEDs; a current adjusting unit which compares a target current value which is supplied to the LED with a current value detected by the current detector and controls the value of the current flowing in the LED; and a controller which determines the target current value based on grayscale information of a video signal which is displayed on the display unit, provides the target current value to the current adjusting unit, and provides a virtual target current value that is higher than the target current value to the current adjusting unit for a predetermined time period if the target current value is determined.

A power supply device for a luminous element and a method thereof are provided. The power supply device includes an output calculation unit for calculating a brightness level of the luminous element, a current command signal generation unit for generating a current command signal so that a current value being supplied to the luminous element is adjusted by stages, and a constant current source for adjusting by stages the current being supplied to the luminous element according to the current command signal. According to the power supply device, the ascending period and the descending period can be shortened, and light output characteristics can be improved by improving the transient characteristic through an adaptive adjustment of current in the ascending period and the descending period.

A developing device that attaches/detaches to/from a main body of an image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive drum, a charging roller to rotate while contacting the photosensitive drum to charge a surface of the photosensitive drum to a uniform potential, and a separating member to rotate between a first position where the charging roller is separated from the photosensitive drum and a second position where the charging roller contacts the photosensitive drum. The separating member includes a body into which a rotary shaft of the charging roller is inserted to be rotatable, and a contact portion extending from the body and contacting the surface of the photosensitive drum when the separating member is located at the first position so as to separate the charging roller from the photosensitive drum, wherein the contact portion includes a friction member including rubber.

The LED driver circuit includes an LED the LED; a power unit which provides a current to the LED through an inductor; a dimming switch which is connected to the LED and bypasses the current provided to the LED; an input unit which receives brightness information of the LED; a logic unit which calculates reference currents for each driving mode according to the received brightness information; a current control unit which controls the power unit to provide the current based on the driving mode and the calculated reference currents to the inductor; and a switch control unit which switches the dimming switch on if the driving mode of the LED driver circuit is switched to the dimming mode.

A backlight unit and a display apparatus are provided. The display apparatus includes a driving unit which applies a driving current using a duty cycle controlling to the light emitting unit; and a controller which controls a first driving current to be applied to the light emitting unit in a section of a plurality of frame sections, and a second driving current to be applied to the light emitting unit in another section of the plurality of frame sections. Therefore, luminance representation of backlight in a low grayscale region can be improved.
