Abstract: A communications device transmits data in preconfigured resources of an uplink of a wireless communications network by performing a procedure to determine whether the communications device can transmit signals in the preconfigured resources of the uplink, and if the communications device determines that it can transmit signals in the preconfigured resources, transmitting signals representing the data in the preconfigured resources. The procedure to determine whether the communications device can transmit signals in the preconfigured resources of the uplink includes a transmission parameter confirmation procedure which confirms that a value of one or more transmission parameters to be used for transmitting the signals representing the data can be used for the signals representing the data to be detected by an infrastructure equipment of the wireless communications network.

Abstract: A method of operating a network access node in a wireless telecommunications system comprising the network access node and a terminal device, wherein the method comprises: establishing that a downlink message, e.g. a paging message, for the terminal device to decode is going to be transmitted by the network access node; and transmitting wake-up signalling to the terminal device in advance of transmitting the downlink message to provide the terminal device with an indication the downlink message for the terminal device is going to be transmitted, wherein the wake-up signalling comprises an indication of an amount of synchronisation signalling for use by the terminal device to achieve radio synchronisation with the network access node, wherein the amount of synchronisation signalling depends on an amount of time elapsed since the terminal device was previously radio synchronised to the network access node.

Abstract: A method for beam sweeping in a wireless communication system is described. Abstract: Multi-beam multiplexing in mobile radio communication networks, specifically for initial network access transmissions, such as Random Access Channel (RACH) transmissions and other initial network access signals that affect the operation of the Random Access operation. A network node is configured to distribute, simultaneously, a plurality of beams across a predetermined coverage area. Each of the beams are associated with a different coverage area. In addition, a plurality of sub-carriers are precoded in an OFDM modulated signal, which includes control information, for the purpose of shaping (i.e., beamforming) each of the plurality of beams. In this regard, one or more sub-carriers are mapped to a beam.

Abstract: A node (100) of a cellular network selects a first modulation scheme setting for a first radio link to a first device (10′). The first modulation scheme setting is selected from a set of modulation scheme settings, each identified by at least one corresponding index. On the basis of a mapping of each of the indices to a corresponding set of transmission parameters, the node (100) identifies a first set of link parameters mapped to the index corresponding to the selected first modulation scheme setting. The node (100) then configures the first radio link according to the identified first set of link parameters. Further, the node (100) selects a second modulation scheme setting for a second radio link to a second device (10).
