摘要： A communication system performs, by first and second data processing apparatuses, an electromagnetic-induction communication using a carrier having a single frequency. A transfer rate for use between the first and second data processing apparatuses is changeable in one transaction. The first data processing apparatus determines whether a transfer rate can be changed based on data transmitted from the second data processing apparatus. When the first data processing apparatus determines that the transfer rate can be changed, the first data processing apparatus transmits to the second data processing apparatus a request to change the transfer rate to one of a plurality of transfer rates.

A rotation mechanism holds a target having a sputtered surface in a state inclined relative to a surface of a substrate. The rotation mechanism rotatably supports the target about an axis extending along a normal of the sputtered surface. The target supported by the rotation mechanism is sputtered to form a thin film on the surface of the substrate. When forming the thin film, the rotation mechanism maintains the rotational angle of the target.

A communications apparatus includes a generation unit for generating a transmission message sent to a different communications apparatus and effective for only one transmission, a first communications units for communicating with the different communications apparatus using Near Field Communication, a second communications unit for communicating with the different communications apparatus via a predetermined communication channel, and a control unit for controlling the communication functions. The second communications unit transmits the transmission message generated by the generation unit and receives a different transmission message transmitted from the different communications apparatus via the predetermined communication channel. The first communications unit receives a message transmitted from the different communications apparatus and transmits the different transmission message to the different communications apparatus using Near Field Communication. The control unit determines whether the message received by the first communications unit is equal to the transmission message transmitted by the second communications unit.

摘要： The present invention relates to a communication system and communication method which enable various types of near field communication, and a data processing apparatus. NFC communication apparatuses 1 to 3 have two features in that each can perform communication in two communication modes and that each can perform data transmission at a plurality of transfer rates. The two communication modes consist of a passive mode and an active mode. In the passive mode, between the NFC communication apparatuses 1 and 2, for example, the NFC communication apparatus 1 transmits data to the NFC communication apparatus 2 by modulating electromagnetic waves generated by itself, while the NFC communication apparatus 2 transmits data to the NFC communication apparatus 1 by performing load modulation on the electromagnetic waves generated by the NFC communication apparatus 1. Alternatively, in the active mode, either of the NFC communication apparatuses 1 and 2 transmits data by modulating electromagnetic waves generated by itself. The present invention can be applied to, for example, an IC card system, etc.
