摘要： A yarn which is configured by using expanded graphite and PTEE is provided while improving the yarn so that the expanded graphite functioning as a core member is not exposed and it can be simply produced.Therefore, a yarn is formed by: forming a base member 3 configured by enveloping an expanded graphite sheet member 1 with a PTEE film 2, in a state where the PTEE film 2 and the expanded graphite sheet member 1 are aligned with each other in longitudinal direction; and twisting the base member 3. The base member 3 has an approximately circular sectional shape, and is configured by enveloping the expanded graphite sheet member 1 having a rounded sectional shape with the PTEE film 2 which is rounded in a pipe-like shape.

摘要： In a braiding yarn made of expanded graphite 1, a reinforcing wire member 3 made of a stainless steel wire which is easily plastically deformed, and having a diameter of 0.05 to 0.2 mm is spirally wound around the outer periphery of a twisted expanded graphite base member 2 having a width of 3 mm and a thickness of 0.38 mm, at a narrow pitch P of 0.5 to 5 mm without slack. Alternatively, the reinforcing wire member is wound so as to be embedded in the inner side of and along an edge 4 of an expanded graphite tape which is spirally exposed from the outer surface of the expanded graphite base member 2.

摘要： The present invention relates to a gland packing which is made of a material configured by laminating an expanded graphite tape into a spiral shape by winding. The gland packing can prevent penetration leak-age through minute gaps existing in the laminated parts, from occurring, can be sufficiently deformed so as to exhibit sure sealing properties even at a low tightening force, and has properties which result in a small amount of wear so as to ensure high sealing properties, so that high sealing performance can be maintained for a long term. In the gland packing, circumferentially projected parts are disposed on end faces of a die mold packing part made of an expanded graphite tape laminated into a spiral shape so as to be integrated with the part. Ring-like seal members are brought into tight contact with the end faces of the die mold packing part excluding the circumferentially projected parts in such a manner that the circumferentially projected parts are project in an axial direction beyond the outer faces of the respective ring-like seal members.
