Abstract:
A method and apparatus to shield various components (e.g., a gasket, a sensor, a wire, a mechanical component made of metals and/or polymers) deployed in a vacuum environment using a shield assembly formed from multiple ceramic fibers. The shield assembly reduces damage to the components when exposed to a plasma and the generation of contaminants. The ceramic fibers are formed from a ceramic and arranged in a packed structure creating a tortuous trajectory that suppresses the transport of charged particles and/or contaminants through the shield assembly. The ceramic fibers are mechanically compliant and readily bent and/or packed into gaps without fracture. The ceramic fibers may also be formed into a tube to surround a fiberglass rod, a gasket, a sensor, and/or a wire. The presence of the shield assemblies also permits cleaning of the interior surfaces of the vacuum chamber using a plasma without generating contaminants from the gaskets.
Abstract:
A yarn in which slipping of filler materials from a tubular member can be reduced while suppressing the manufacturing cost is provided. The yarn has a tubular member, and a plurality of filler materials that are formed into a strip-like shape, and is configured by loading the filler materials into the tubular member in a state where the longitudinal directions of the filler materials are made extending along the axial direction of the tubular member. In the yarn, the tubular member is configured by using wire material that is knitted so as to produce stitches. The wire material has arcuate loop portions that define parts of external shapes of the stitches. In a state where the tubular member is developed, the loop portions are expanded in a direction that is inclined with respect to a straight line that extends in the axial direction of the tubular member.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a fast curing two component epoxy resin which has excellent adhesion properties to glazed surfaces and a short tack free time at ambient and low temperature conditions. The invention also relates a process for the rehabilitation of glazed surfaces, especially glazed ceramic surfaces or glazed cement surfaces. Furthermore the present invention describes a cartridge for the transportation and risk-free mixing of the described epoxy resin on site.
Abstract:
A network layer is provided that contains at least one thermoplastic biodegradable substance. The network layer contains at least one colored first material in a first direction, the first colored material exhibiting a first absorption coefficient, and at least one colored second material in a second direction, the second colored material exhibiting a second absorption coefficient. The colored first material and the colored second material are in contact with each other, a coloration of the first material is different from a coloration of the second material, and the second absorption coefficient is different from the first absorption coefficient.
Abstract:
Provided are a shape-retaining film which has excellent adhesion to inks and other functional layers while retaining high shape-retaining properties and a process for producing the shape-retaining film. The shape-retaining film comprises an ethylene homopolymer or an ethylene/α-olefin copolymer having a C3-6 α-olefin content less than 2 wt. %, the ethylene homopolymer or copolymer having a density of 950 kg/m3 or higher and a weight-average molecular weight (Mw)/number-average molecular weight (Mn) ratio of 5-20. The film has a tensile elasticity modulus of 6-50 GPa and has either an angle of recovery from 90 bending of 8 or less or an angle of recovery from 180 bending of 65 or less.

Abstract:
A braided packing has a number of longitudinal strands around which a braid strand is wound in a lattice pattern to form a substantially square braid. The longitudinal strands include at least two lubricant sink strands, the lubricant sink strands having a material composition and configuration to give the lubricant sink strands a higher lubricant absorbency than the other longitudinal strands and the braid strand. The packing is immersed in a lubricating fluid which is absorbed and retained in higher amounts by the lubricant sink strands, thereby providing a long-lasting source of lubricant for the overall packing during use.
Abstract:
A gasket is disclosed for shielding from electromagnetic emissions and interference (EMI) that exhibits excellent characteristics of recovery, bending, and tangential compression over a wide range of frequencies. The gasket comprises a knitted core of monofilament synthetic polymer yarns, and a circular warp knitted sheath over the monofilament knitted core, with the sheath being sufficiently conductive to provide shielding from electromagnetic interference over a wide range of frequencies.
Abstract:
A packing ring of a composite structure including a packing of expanded graphite and an annular mass of superposed sheets of expanded graphite is produced by a method including the steps of spirally winding a ribbon of expanded graphite into a roll, compression molding the roll into the packing, and incorporating the annular mass into the packing by compression molding within a molding die so as to give rise to at least one packed part having a higher density than the packing in at least one of the inner and outer peripheral parts of the packing, the seal device has an empty space through which a shaft passes and containing at least one such packing in the empty space to seal between the inner wall of the empty space and the outer peripheral surface of the shaft.
