Abstract:
A process for producing a rubber-modified styrene-based resin. The process includes supplying a styrene-based monomer solution containing 5 to 20% by weight of a rubber component containing a styrene-butadiene-based block polymer rubber with a styrene content of 20 to 50% by weight to a first polymerization zone where initial polymerization is conducted to a conversion of 10 to 30%, and then supplying the resulting initial polymerization solution to a second polymerization zone where polymerization is conducted to a conversion of 30 to 70%, while at the same time phase inversion is caused, thereby controlling a rubber particle diameter to a range of 0.2 to 1.5 .mu.m and an area average rubber particle diameter/number average rubber particle diameter ratio (Ds/Dn) to not more than 2.5. The process results in ease of removal of polymerization heat, reduced power for agitation and does not require a high strength apparatus. The rubber-modified styrene-based resin obtained by the process has a high impact strength, and excellent gloss and stiffness.
Abstract:
In a discharge head lamp assembly for a vehicle, a lamp housing has a front face which is formed therein with an opening. A discharge lamp is arranged within the lamp housing. An inner lens is also arranged within the lamp housing at a location in front of the discharge lamp for converging a light from the discharge lamp. An outer lens made of a resinous material converges the opening in the front face of the housing. The outer lens transmits therethrough the light from the inner lens to guide the light to the outside. A reflecting film is formed on a face of the inner lens adjacent to the discharge lamp for reflecting ultraviolet rays from the dishcharge lamp.
Abstract:
A solution of a polycarbonate resin in a good solvent of the resin is introduced concurrently but separately or as mixed with a poor solvent of the resin into a blending machine of self-cleaning type and heated and devolatilized therein so that a fine powder of the resin having a uniform particle size distribution and large bulk density can be easily obtained.
Abstract:
A snowmobile includes an engine, a handle, an operation portion, an operation input detector, an operation amount detector, and a control portion. The handle includes a grip grasped by the rider. The operation portion is provided near the grip to control driving of the engine. The operation input detector is provided near the grip to detect whether operation of the operation portion has been carried out by the rider. The operation amount detector electrically detects the operation amount of the operation portion. The control portion controls driving of the engine based on the operation amount detected by the operation amount detector when operation of the operation portion by the rider is detected at the operation input detector.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an apparatus, method, and program for automatically generating setting information for a different model on the basis of settings previously made. Additionally, the present invention is directed to automatically determining one piece of setting information to be set for a different model on the basis of settings previously made. The present invention is also directed to automatically generating, on the basis of settings previously made, setting information that is to be set for a different model and that meets the user's intention.
Abstract:
A structure to couple exterior components of a vehicle includes a first exterior component and a second exterior component located apart from the first exterior component, wherein the first exterior component comprises an upper protrusion configured to overlap the second exterior component, and wherein the first exterior component comprises a side protrusion configured to overlap the second exterior component. A method to couple exterior components of a vehicle includes providing a protrusion about at least a portion of a first exterior component, installing the first exterior component proximal to a second exterior component, overlapping the protrusion of the first exterior component about a at least a portion of the second exterior component, interposing an elastic member between a peripheral surface of the first exterior component and an edge of the second exterior component, and positioning the elastic member beneath the protrusion of the first exterior component.
Abstract:
An oil tank uses centrifugal movement of oil to separate blow-by gases. The oil tank has a tank body with an internal oil chamber. The oil chamber is spaced from the walls of the oil tank. The oil is delivered to the oil chamber and the oil swirls along the inner wall of the oil chamber in a helical pattern thereby allowing separation between the oil and the blow-by gases. The oil settles in the bottom of the oil chamber, which is in fluid communication with the region defined between the tank body and the oil chamber. The oil chamber is placed in an off-center location relative to the bottom of the tank body.
Abstract:
A snowmobile has an internal combustion engine that includes a lubrication system. The lubrication system includes a lubricant pump unit mounted in a crankcase chamber of the engine, a lubricant cooler, and a lubricant filter. The lubricant pump unit is mounted at a location offset from an axis about which the crankshaft rotates. The lubricant pump unit also has a lubricant pump that is rotatable about a lubricant pump axis. At least one of the lubricant cooler and the lubricant filter is positioned on the same side of the engine as the lubricant pump unit.
Abstract:
A snowmobile comprised of a frame having a centerline in a front to rear direction, an engine supported by the frame, the engine having a body defining at least one combustion chamber and having a crankshaft extending generally perpendicular to the centerline and arranged to drive a snow-engaging drive member is disclosed. The engine of the snowmobile has an exhaust system including an exhaust passage extending through the body from the combustion chamber, an exhaust pipe leading from the exhaust passage along a first side of the engine, a valve member movably mounted with respect to the body for controlling the timing of the flow of exhaust through the passage, and a drive for moving the valve, the drive including a motor positioned on an opposite side of the centerline of the snowmobile from the exhaust pipe.
Abstract:
A process for producing polycarbonate from a polycarbonate oligomer and a phenol compound, comprising introducing the oligomer, caustic alkali and the phenol compound in the first reaction zone where polymerization is carried out to produce polycarbonate having a viscosity average molecular weight of 3,000 to 15,000, and then introducing the reaction mixture containing the above polycarbonate into the second reaction zone where polymerization is carried out while controlling the alkali concentration to the range of 0.05 to 0.7N by regulating caustic alkali supplied.
