An object of the present invention is to make it possible, without necessitating an alkali pretreatment, to form a zinc oxide layer having excellent sliding properties on a hot dip galvanized steel sheet not subjected to alloying after galvanizing and thus having a relatively low degree of surface activity. Another object of the present invention is to make it possible to manufacture a hot dip galvanized steel sheet having higher area ratio of Zn oxide layer formed on a coating surface and larger thickness of the Zn oxide layer. Specifically, the present invention provides a method for manufacturing a hot dip galvanized steel sheet comprising: subjecting a steel sheet to hot dip galvanizing and subsequent temper rolling; bringing the steel sheet into contact with acidic solution having pH buffering capacity; retaining the steel sheet for 1 second to 60 seconds after the contact with the acidic solution; and rinsing the steel sheet with water, to form a zinc oxide layer on a coating surface of the steel sheet, characterized in that the method further comprising: carrying out the temper rolling by either rolling the steel sheet first with a dull roll having Ra≧2.0 μm at rolling reduction rate ≦5% and then with a bright roll having Ra≦0.1 μm at rolling reduction rate ≦3% or rolling the steel sheet first with a bright roll having Ra≦0.1 μm at rolling reduction rate ≦3% and then with a dull roll having Ra≦2.0 μm at rolling reduction rate ≦5%.

The present invention relates to a highly corrosion-resistant surface-treated steel plate. The steel plate of the present invention comprises a zinc deposition or zinc alloy deposition film as the undercoat deposition layer, a chromate film formed on the undercoat deposition layer and a film of a resin composition formed on the chromate film. This resin composition comprises a base resin formed by adding at least one basic nitrogen atom and at least two primary hydroxyl groups to terminals of an epoxy resin. The resin composition may comprise a polyisocyanate compound as the curing agent. Furthermore, the resin composition may comprise silica or a hardly soluble chromium compound as the additive for improving the corrosion resistance. Moreover, the resin composition may comprise a silane compound as the crosslinking agent for the base resin and silica.

The invention is to provide a surface-treated steel sheet of good white rust resistance with no chromium in its surface treatment film, and it has realized a surface-treated steel sheet of higher-level corrosion resistance by forming a reaction layer of plating metal with a barrier layer effective for anticorrosion not in a two-layered film but in a single-layered film. The surface-treated steel sheet is fabricated by applying a surface-treating composition that contains: (a) a water-dispersible resin and/or a water-soluble resin obtained through reaction of an epoxy group-containing resin (A) with an active hydrogen-containing compound (B) a part or all of which is an active hydrogen-containing hydrazine derivative and preferably with a hydrophilic organic component (C), (b) a silane coupling agent, (c) a phosphoric acid and/or a hexafluoro-metal acid, and (d) preferably an aqueous dispersion of an urethane resin, to a zinc-plated or aluminium-plated steel sheet followed by drying it to form thereon a surface treatment film having a thickness of from 0.02 to 5 μm. Regarding its film structure, the surface treatment film comprises an amorphous compound layer containing P, Zn and/or Al, and O, and an overlying organic resin matrix layer where the matrix is a hydrazine derivative-modified epoxy group-containing resin or the epoxy group-containing resin and an urethane resin.

This invention provides an organic composite coated steel sheet comprising, as the base, a zinc or zinc alloy coated steel sheet, which can be used in automobile bodies and electric appliances. The coated steel sheet has excellent press formability with oil, while having excellent perforation corrosion resistance and excellent corrosion resistance in a rust-contaminated environment. The coated steel sheet comprises a zinc or zinc alloy plated steel sheet having, on its surface, a chromate layer and an organic film formed in that order, in which the organic film has a thickness of from 0.1 to 3.0 .mu.m and comprises (i) an epoxy resin mixture composed of a base resin as prepared by adding at least one basic nitrogen atom and at least two primary hydroxyl groups to the ends of an epoxy resin, and a curing agent for the resin of a polyisocyanate compound, as mixed in a particular ratio by weight of the two, (ii) a composite lubricant comprising a polyolefin wax as prepared through coordination-anionic polymerization using a Ziegler catalyst, and fine powder of a fluorine resin, as combined in a particular ratio by weight of the two, and (iii) a rust preventive additive, as combined in a particular ratio of (i), (ii) and (iii).
