摘要： An image reading apparatus includes a casing having inlet and outlet openings which are formed in a front side wall of the casing. An image reading section is arranged in the casing near a rear side wall of the casing. Originals inserted into the casing through the inlet opening are fed by a feeding mechanism to the reading section one by one while being turned by a guide in the casing. The originals passed through the reading section are discharged out of the casing through the outlet opening by a discharging mechanism.

摘要： A copying machine which can operate in a mode newly selected by an operator, without the necessity of changing the copying conditions set at the start of the copying process, and which can also operate in the mode initially selected by the operator as soon as the operator selects the initial mode again. The copying machine can be set in a high-speed copying mode after it has produced the first hard copy, if the image being copied is formed of characters only, thereby to produce other copies at high speed. The other copies are produced without a break, thus reducing the amount of toner and paper, and also the copying time, to a minimum. This helps decrease the copying costs.

摘要： A feed apparatus for feeding paper to a copy machine is disclosed. Paper on a paper table is vertically moved by a lift mechanism. The lift mechanism is made up of a coupling mechanism, a transmitting mechanism, and a mounting mechanism. This mechanism transmits a drive force from a motor and a motor drive to the paper table, to vertically move the table. The table has an elastic member attached thereto. The elastic member has a predetermined elastic force to move the table upwardly. The table is lifted by cooperation of the lift mechanism and the elastic member. A controller applies a command to the motor to drive a transport mechanism. The driven transport mechanism picks up paper sheet by sheet and feeds it to the copy machine.

摘要： A document scanning unit obtains image data by optically scanning the document. In an initial state, a first control unit sets the document scanning unit at a predetermined position, and sets a light emitting and receiving unit at a predetermined position. A second control unit causes the document scanning unit to move from the predetermined initial position in accordance with an instruction from a document size detection instruction unit prior to the image formation instruction. A first detection unit detects, as a change in amount of light received by the light receiving section, that the light emitting and receiving unit has reached one side portion of the document. A third control unit causes the light emitting and receiving unit to move from the predetermined initial position in accordance with a detection signal from the first detection unit. A second detection unit detects, as a change in amount of light received by the light receiving section, that the light emitting and receiving unit has reached the other side portion of the document. A document size calculating unit calculates two dimensions of the document based on the detection signals from the first and second detection units.

摘要： An image building apparatus of the type in which both a sheet of printing medium and a strip of ink donor medium are displaced in the superimposed state in an area defined between a printing head and a platen. 摘要： An image transfer type image building apparatus includes a platen and a recording head, the latter being adapted to come in contact or out of contact with the former. A cassette containing a supply of thermal transfer ribbon wound on a pair of winding cores is positioned opposite the platen with respect to the recording head. A driving power source for displacing the recording head is positioned opposite the recording head with respect to the cassette. Driving power is transmitted from the driving power source to the recording head via power transmitting members which extend between the winding cores. The cassette is detachably secured to a frame member of the apparatus. The driving power source is mounted outside the cassette permitting the cassette structure to be designed in smaller dimensions.
