Abstract: A control housing is adjustably connected to a mounting base for relative orientation of the housing relative to the base. A pair of threaded members provides a means for permanently locking the housing at any selectable orientation. In a preferred embodiment, the mounting connection defines a universal joint which includes opposed yokes connected to an intermediate cross member by threaded fasteners. Upon selection of desired orientation of the housing, the fasteners may be tightened to permanently secure the housing in the selected orientation. In another embodiment, the mounting connection comprises a ball and socket joint, wherein the socket is threadably fixed to the base and the ball is fixed to the housing. The socket may be threadably drawn tightly against the ball to lock the housing into the selected angle.

Abstract: A linear pretensioner device for motor vehicle belt restraint systems. In one embodiment, the linear pretensioner is formed by a pair of stamped sheet metal housing components joined along a plane which is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the internal piston bore. After the sheet metal housing half members are formed, assembly proceeds by loading the elements of a cable assembly into one of the housing half members, placing the second housing half member over the first and fastening them together by spot welds or other fastening processes. Alternate embodiments include a one-piece housing component deformed to form the housing, and a variety of means for connecting together the housing members or sections. The invention is also related to methods of assembling various designs of pretensioners.

Abstract: A safety device for a storage rack can include a length of webbing configured to span across a rear side of the storage rack. A sensor device can be coupled to one end of the webbing and a signaling device can be configured to communicate with the sensor device. The signaling device can include a selectively actuatable alert indicator. The sensor device can be operable to sense an increase in tension in the webbing when an item is placed in a position on the storage rack so as to engage the webbing. The sensor device can generate a signal indicative of the increase in tension and communicate the signal to the signaling device. The signaling device can be operable to actuate the at least one alert indicator responsive to the communicated signal so as to provide an indication of a position of the item relative to the storage rack.

Abstract: A spool sleeve (78) is rotatable in webbing withdrawal and webbing retraction directions (A, B). Abstract: A webbing clamp assembly (10) for blocking movement of belt webbing (18) in a vehicle occupant restraint system includes first and second clamp members (70, 72) having first and second clamping surfaces (76, 86). Abstract: A strap drive 50 is employed for connecting a pressure plate 20 to a cover assembly 31 in a clutch 10. The strap drive provides a fixed concentricity of the pressure plate relative to the cover assembly during assembly of the clutch, and provides a method whereby misalignments due to weights and clearances of mating clutch parts may be avoided. A preferred method of insuring proper alignment of a clutch pressure plate includes the steps of forming a subassembly 80 to prealign the pressure plate with respect to an adaptor ring 32, and fixing the subassembly to a flywheel 12 as an intermediate assembly procedure. The result is an avoidance of misalignments normally introduced during assembly, and which produce undesirable vibrations during operation of the clutch.
