Abstract: An apparatus includes a precursor dispenser for dispensing a precursor material into a workspace, one or more acoustic sources configured to direct acoustic waves towards the workspace to provide acoustic fields that arrange the precursor material in a three-dimensional shape in the workspace, one or more sensors configured to detect a distribution of the precursor material in the workspace, and an electronic controller in communication with the precursor dispenser, the one or more acoustic sources, and the one or more sensors, the electronic controller being programmed to cause the one or more acoustic sources to adjust the acoustic fields to reduce deviations in the distribution of the precursor material from the three-dimensional shape in the workspace.

Abstract: A technique and apparatus for monitoring a plant canopy over a field is disclosed. The technique includes receiving first sensor values from a plurality of plant canopy sensors disposed in or on a ground of the field under the plant canopy. The first sensor values are indicative of near-infrared (IR) light reflected or reradiated from the plant canopy. Second sensor values are also received from the plant canopy sensors. The second sensor values are indicative of red light that is incident through the plant canopy. A map of the plant canopy may be generated based upon the first and second sensor values.

One of the systems may include a light emitting diode display that includes an array of pixels, each pixel including, for each color of multiple colors, a directional light emitter and a wide-angle light emitter, a first combination of all the directional light emitters configured to generate a first display image viewable within a first viewing angle, and a second combination of all the wide-angle light emitters configured to generate a second display image concurrently with the generation of the first display image that is viewable within a second viewing angle. The first display image is a different image than the second display image and the first viewing angle is a narrower viewing angle than, and included within, the second viewing angle.

Abstract: Systems and methods for plant phenotyping using mechanical manipulation are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method for plant phenotyping includes: acquiring a first image of a plant with a first imaging modality operating in a first spectrum; and acquiring a second image of the plant with a second imaging modality operating in a second spectrum. The first spectrum and the second spectrum have different depths of penetration through the plant. The method also includes analyzing the first image and the second image to determine the properties of the plant.
