    摘要: A method and apparatus for authenticating a directional multi gigabit device for communication in an IEEE 802.11-compliant wireless network are provided. Network association and authentication can be performed in parallel, with association and authentication information elements included in common frames. Authentication information elements are included in at least one and potentially a sequence of management frames transmitted between an access point of the wireless network and the device. The authentication information elements are thereby exchanged between the access point and the device. The exchanged authentication information elements are used to establish that both the access point and the device possess a common cryptographic key. The exchanged management frames can also facilitate network association. Authentication information elements can also be included in non-management frames. A format for the authentication information elements is presented.

    摘要: Methods and systems for channel access in a BSS having two or more PCP/APs. A C-PCP/AP transmits at least a first management/extension frame, the management/extension frame including information for channel access by a STA. The C-PCP/AP receives, from the STA, at least a second management/extension frame. Based on information exchanged between the C-PCP/AP and the STA via at least the first and second management/extension frames, the STA is provided with channel access within the BSS by: the C-PCP/AP establishing a communication link for the C-PCP/AP to serve the STA; or the C-PCP/AP assigning a second PCP/AP in the BSS to serve the STA.

    摘要: Systems and methods for wireless discovery and connectivity in 802.11 networks. A management frame from an access point (AP) or personal basic service set (PBSS) control point (PCP) indicates which designated channels are operating and which are non-operating, for purposes of subsequent wireless communications, such as Association Beamforming Training (A-BFT). The management frame contains a bitmap or other forms for indicating which of the designated channels are operating and which are non-operating. In response to the information received through the management frame, one or more stations (STA) can select any one of the operating channels for transmitting of frames in A-BFT communication or other access periods in the Beacon Interval.

    摘要: Methods and systems for device-to-device (D2D) communication between a first device and a second device. The first device receives a communication transmitted by the second device, where the communication is intended for another recipient other than the first device. The communication provides information for the first device to determine a preferred transmit sector to be used by the second device for the D2D communication. The first device transmits a communication to the second device that provides information indentifying the preferred transmit sector to be used by the second device. As a receiver in the D2D communication, the first device receives data from the second device, transmitted on the preferred transmit sector. As a transmitter in the D2D communication, the first device transmits data to the second device on a preferred transmit sector identified in another communication received from the second device.
