The method includes despreading a vector of received samples to determine an average channel estimate for each of a plurality of multiplexed layers associated with the MIMO network, canceling inter-layer interference using the average channel estimates for the layers and obtaining a time-varying estimate for each layer, and estimating the channel using a two-dimensional minimum mean squared error (2D MMSE) technique.

In this communication system, a plurality of methods for calculating traffic-to-pilot ratios (T2P) are established. In addition, a mapping scheme between a plurality of overhead signals and a plurality of reference signal (RS) overhead ratios, ηRS, and the plurality of T2P calculation methods is established. A user-specific T2P ratio PB,k/PRS for certain OFDM symbols, a RS overhead ratio ηRS and a calculation method selected from the plurality of T2P calculation methods are assigned to a wireless terminal. Then, an overhead signal corresponding to both of the assigned RS overhead ratio ηRS and the assigned T2P calculation method is selected in accordance with the mapping scheme and is transmitted to the wireless terminal. In addition, the user-specific traffic-to-pilot ratio PB,k/PRS is transmitted to the wireless terminal. The wireless terminal may calculate the traffic-to-pilot ratios across different transmission antennas and different OFDM symbols in dependence upon the received traffic-to-pilot ratio PB,k/PRS, and the RS overhead ratio and the T2P calculation method indicated by the RS overhead signal.

    摘要: A method and apparatus allocate acknowledgement channels in a communication network. A linking scheme is established between indices of physical hybrid automatic repeat-request indicator channels (PHICHs), and a combination of indices of control channel elements (CCEs) or indices of physical resource blocks (PRBs) and indices of demodulation reference signals (DMRSs). A scheduling grant is transmitted to a user equipment (UE) by using a plurality of CCEs. In response to receiving a data packet and a DMRS from the UE, an index of a PHICH within the plurality of PHICHs is determined based on at least one index of the CCEs used to transmit the scheduling grant or at least one index of the PRBs used to transmit the data packet, and an index of the DMRS in accordance with the linking scheme established. The BS transmits an acknowledgement signal to the UE using the PHICH indicated by the determined index.

A communication context between the stations can be maintained and the network reentry can be optimized by omitting one or more operation procedures.
