    摘要: An air spring has a pair of spaced end members and a fluid pressure chamber therebetween formed by an elastomeric flexible sleeve. The air spring is adapted to be mounted on a vehicle suspension system in close vicinity to one of the vehicle tires. The air spring and the vehicle tires each includes a monitoring device for sensing an engineering condition of the air spring and/or tire. The tire monitoring device transmits the sensed engineering condition of the tire to the air spring monitoring device which retransmits to received tire data and the collected air spring engineering condition data to a distance location with less power and more efficient signal than possible if transmitted directly by the monitoring device of the tire due to the reduced wall thickness of the sleeve of the air spring in contrast to the sidewall thickness of the tire. Both the air spring and tire may contain stored ID information pertaining to the particular air spring and tire in which they are contained, which information also can be transmitted by the air spring device to a remote location. A height sensor may be contained within the air spring and coupled with the air spring transmitting device to provide additional operating information to an interrogator at a remote location.

    摘要: An improved method and apparatus permits the insertion and removal of an electronic monitoring device from a tire, while securing the electronic monitoring device to the tire so that stress, strain, impact, cyclic fatigue and vibration are minimized. After a rubber patch is vulcanized, the patch is permanently assembled to the inner liner of a vulcanized tire by affixing it to the tire inner liner. An electronic monitoring device, after having been encapsulated in a suitable rigid potting material to form a rigid tag, is fitted with a power source to form a tag assembly in a shape which allows for insertion into a cavity in the patch. The tag is carefully inserted into the cavity housing. The tag assembly is locked into place within the cavity using a suitable removable locking means.

A continuous method of making a composite iso board comprising the steps of feeding a first layer of facer material into a laminator (24); depositing a foamable polymer liquid onto the first layer (12); feeding a second layer of facer material (13) into the laminator above the foamable polymer liquid; allowing the polymer liquid to rise between the first and second facer materials forming polymer foam (42) of a predetermined thickness; curing the polymer foam under heat to create the iso board; cutting the iso board to desired lengths; and stacking said boards in bundles.

    摘要: An EPDM flashing composition comprises 100 parts by weight of an elastomeric polymer comprising from about 85 to 100 parts by weight of at least one ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer having up to about 2 percent by weight crystallinity and from 0 to about 15 parts by weight of an ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer having more than 2 percent by weight crystallinity; from about 40 to 120 parts by weight of a filler selected from the group consisting of reinforcing and non-reinforcing materials and mixtures thereof, per 100 parts of the polymer; from about 40 to 105 parts by weight of a processing material and mixtures thereof, per 100 parts of the polymer; and from about 0.5 to 6 parts by weight of a cure package, per 100 parts of the polymer, the cure package comprising from about 0.1 to 1.25 parts by weight sulfur and from 0.4 to 5 parts by weight of at least one sulfur vulcanizing accelerator and being devoid of hexasulfides and thioureas. The uncured EPDM flashing composition has a longer shelf-life than current uncured, calendered commercial EPDM flashing materials, and meets the flexibility, extensibility and green strength requirements and cure characteristics desired of comer flashing compositions. Preferably, the composition has a Mooney viscosity (ML/1+4 at 135 .degree. C.) of less than about 35 Mooney units and a green strength at break of less than 65 psi.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for generating various tire profiles. A linear-linear-rotary table carries a non-contacting probe that sequentially scans the entire outer surface of a tire. The non-contacting probe collects measurement data which is transferred to a processor to generate an average cross-sectional tire profile or a high definition cross-sectional tire profile of the tire being measured. The processor, in conjunction with the non-contacting probe, provides an automatic ranging feature which eliminates the need to manually adjust the non-contacting probe prior to the collection of measurement data.
